“Bigger than average rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2011

Candlewood Suites is a reliable component of the ICHotel group that includes Holiday Inns and others.
this hotel is relatively new with larger than average rooms that include a full refridge, stove, microwave and not something commonly found in a city known for its small rooms.
It is located one block south of the Port Authority Bus Terminal and a five minute walk to Times Square itself. A good location and i find the rooms here to be priced very reaonably more often than not.
my only complaint is that with only two elevators for a very large hotel it can be a real pain waiting for one during morning "rush hour".

Room Tip: most rooms have a pretty good view of Manhanttan skyline

Great review! Thank you very much for writing such a generous review of our hotel. We hope our accommodations and location exceeded your expectations and that your trip to NYC was a good one. We’re disappointed that our elevators may have caused you delays during your visit, but we appreciate the feedback so we can work to improve our services. We look forward to your return!

I visited NY for a week and stayed here based on reviews on TripAdvisor, and was not disappointed. The location is fantastic - note though that it is not located in TImes Square, but down on 39th St about 5-10 minute walk away. It is an easy walk to the restaurants of Hell's Kitchen, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Madison Square Garden, and the Javits Convention Centre. If you're looking for a handy midtown location this is tough to beat. Rooms were clean and comfortable, although by no means luxurious. If you're looking for 5 star luxury stay somewhere else. The rooms are small but not cramped, with a small kithenette so you can cook your own meals. I have stayed in more expensive NY hotels that had smaller rooms than this. There is a small store in the lobby where you can buy snacks and drinks, although this being midtown there are shops, delis and restaurants galore in the area. Cleaning Service is once a week. Bed was comfortable, decent television, aircon in room. The only negatives I can think to mention is that the aircon/heating is noisy and the hot water was unreliable once or twice, but this was not a big deal. Yes it's expensive, but by NY standards this is reasonable value. I would stay here again when I visit NYC.

This hotel was very clean and the staff very friendly. Small, but quaint. It sits among three popular hotels and shares some amenitities (restaurant). Free coffee and fun "spin the wheel" for a prize when you check-in. Unlike what the name suggests, however, it is close to times square (a few blocks) but not in it. Was a bit of a hike through a dance bar crowd, some construction, and textile businesses, which was not always comfortable. Close enough, however, to the main attractions. Fair pricing for New York.

We were more than satisfied with our stay at Cnadlewood Suites. It is not a glamorous stay but the room was big by NY standards and having a kitchenette was fantastic. There is a small "Candlewood Cupboard" opposite the front desk which has all those little essentials that make it easy.....fresh milk, yoghurt, fruit, crackers, snacks etc, and the prices were very reasonable.
The staff were always friendly and helpful and although the rooms afent serviced unless you stay for 7 days....we were there for 6 and it was no trouble to have towels replaced whenever we desired.
Our room was on the 25th floor and faced the street. Our outlook took in the Empire State building, NYC skyline and the Hudson River. It was almost magical. I say almost because tbere was construction happening on a building opposite......but we were fascinated with the speed and activity of the builders so we arent complaining!!! The room was very clean and well maintained as was the bathroom.
The location between 8th and 9th on W39th provides easy access to the Port Authority, Penn Station, as well as a ten min walk to Times Square and the theatre district.
We thoroughly enjoyed coming home to our little piece of NYC after our daily adventures. We would not hesitate to recommend Candlewood Suites.

Room Tip: Higher floors in the front have great views.

The Hotel is pretty well located, the rooms are clean and big, with a small kitchen inside. The heating system really works since I have been there exactly in the days were the city was reached by a Blizzard. From the hotel is also possible go walking to the Times Square and many other points of the city. I used to have my breakfast at the Dean & Deluca near there as the hotel have no restaurant, in the other side there's a small shop at the receptions where you could by things to cook.

i had a great 3 night stay here earlier this summer....i booked using priority club points & this was an amazing value for 15k points per night....

the property is in a good location, walking distance from anywhere you would want to be in the times square area....

i have platinum status with priority club & i was given a platinum gift when i arrived at the property....the gift bag contained a couple of bottles of water, a snack & come candies....also had a map of the area & some recommendations for restaurants....

there was a wheel on the front desk that all pc members spin during check-in to win prizes....i got 2k pc points....

the room was a corner room on the 29th floor....nice size for new york....free internet is another great perk here....the room had a kitchenette which was extremely helpful....

i would definitely return to this property in the future....45k points for a 3 night stay is a steal at a location like this in manhattan....

We stayed here from October 23-27th, 2011 and loved every second of it. The room was on the 15th floor facing the back of the hotel, very quiet.. the front of the bldg had construction across the street, noisy and not very pretty but from our side of the bldg, extremely quiet.

The bed was quite comfortable and clean.. That was my biggest concern with going to a big city like this is any sort of infestation.. The hotel (the element) a few doors up was targeted by an unhappy customer, and they left a large blow up rat outside the premise with a note attached around the neck of the rat.. That's saying something..

Whoever is worried about no 'housekeeping' in these units are crazy! I really enjoyed knowing that no one had 'access' to our room while we weren't there and never worried about anyone stealing anything out of it. The room is equipped with everything you will ever need..

The front desk staff are great and treat you with respect and kindness. The hotel was very centrally located. 7 minute walk to Times Square, Broadway plays, restaurants and everything you require.. The Port Authority Bldg is around the next corner and has great access to the subway system.

Great, great, great place to use while visiting NYC on your vacation. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the back side of the bldg. Less noise
