Truth in advertising, please!!! This hotel is NOT in Times Square as its name indicates. It's in the GARMENT DISTRICT as suggested by the fabric shops lining the street. Is it walkable to Times Square? Sure, as another reviewer suggested, if you're accustomed to walking long city blocks for 20 or more minutes at a time in the summer heat dodging large crowds of people. I'm not. So I unexpectedly became good friends with the taxi stand (turn left from the hotel and keep going--even that is a little hike) because it's nearly impossible to get a taxi directly from the hotel--I know because one of the hotel employees tried and failed--given that the hotel is on a shabby little side street. The hotel was so far from Times Square that it didn't make sense for me to come back to my room to freshen up during the day. Then there was the constant belching of garbage trucks all night long that I could hear clearly from my window (Room 306) and that woke me up at 12:30 one night, not to mention that I found a former guest's hairbrush near the bed (yuk) along with a souvenir that somehow didn't make it home with whoever had stayed there before me. And the lighting in the room was awful, particularly the overhead fixture that was right inside the door as I came inside. One night, I thought about using the icemaker, but I changed my mind when I saw that the plastic container for catching ice didn't look clean. And the "Candlewood Cupboard" was tiny for the size of the hotel and offered little variety of selection in snacks and beverages. For over $200/night, this hotel was a major disappointment. Given that I've stayed at Candlewood Suites in another city and was extremely pleased with it, I was taken aback by the so-called "Times Square" Candlewood Suites. I won't be back, nor will I recommend it to my friends. NOTE: There are little signs all over the hotel telling guests to provide a rating to Trip Advisor. "We want a 10," the signs said. To get a "10" from me, you have to EARN a "10." Candlewood Suites just didn't deliver as promised.
