“A WONDER TO BEHOLD”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

As the lights go down you are transported into a night of stars. The new projector system shows the sky magically in 360 degrees. The voiceover describes what you are seeing in exact terms that are easily understood. The seats are extremely comfortable.. See all the exhibits. Not the Planetarium of my youth, more comfortable and just as wondrous.

“Dark Universe”
Reviewed 25 March 2014

Excellent show and so beautiful to watch. Mightn't be a great idea to bring very young children, a few were crying.

“A Staple for Decades”
Reviewed 24 March 2014

I've been coming here for over 60 years, and it has always been one of my favorite places. I have been here with multiple generations of kids, starting with when I was one myself. The old starting announcement - naming the Zeiss Projector standing in the middle of the room - is gone - in favor of a more modern projection system.

The show is still spectacular and a must-visit-at-least-once attraction.

But.. and someone needs to get this message to the Rose Space Center and the Planetarium - the seats are both wonderfully comfortable and also horrible. In the old days you didn't need to crane your neck around to see - the way the projector worked everything was always right in front of you. The new images are truly a 360 degree view of the sky, meaning that what you are being told to look at can easily be behind you. People sitting towards the center (front - first seats as you come in) are going to have a very uncomfortable time trying to follow the action.

How hard would it have been to make the seats recline? They are very comfortable - and must have cost a fortune. Recline? No one thought of it?

The Planetarium needs a capital campaign to improve the seats. The experience is great but marred by this detail, once which one would think would be important to fix.

“Sit back and watch the stars”
Reviewed 16 January 2014

Great place to watch the stars for 30 minutes. Love the show. Wonderful break after a day of walking.
You are in total darkness to look at the night sky.
Be aware that small children can be scared by the huge show on the dome above and they will be asked to leave if they cry. Also ANY photography, video, lighted cellphone scenes, and lights will get you evicted.

“An experience”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

The best way to see one of their spectacular state of art shows is to bring kids. You then see it through their eyes, The universe is on display in the rooms and halls, full of interesting things to see.You can also go in the museum. Always worth a visit.
