You can visit the Hayden Planetarium after you visit the American Museum of Natural History as it is part of it and part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space. The Space Theater is a high definition full-dome video system, where you will enjoy the space show of your choice. The model of eight planets outside the theater represents scales of our solar system. It could also be the ideal gift to the children of your family!

“Planetarium”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I had never been to the planetarium and decided it was time for a visit. I had no intention of going elsewhere in the museum (it's in the Museum of natural history/NY) but was forced to pay for the full price. The visit is not much more than a short movie -- somewhat disneyland in the style and presentation. In the end it cost ~ $100 for 4 for what turned out to be only an 1 hour visit. Not worth it unless you're touring the rest of the museum. Be prepared for crowds and lots of children.

“The space show was spectacular”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

The planetarium itself was pretty boring albeit informative but the space show is not to be missed. It was similar to Cosmos but amazingly realistic. You really feel like you are in space. Sit anywhere in the back row so you can see the whole screen. I would give the planetarium without the space show two stars and the space show five stars.

Went here on a date, no children were involved but I would venture to say the same goes for kids.

“Fantastic”

Great planetarium in a great museum. Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, planetarium director, knows what he's doing. If you haven't been in awhile, stop over.

“go see The Dark Universe”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

we took our 12 year old granddaughter and we all loved it. You can order tickets online ahead of time, which I recommend. It seems that every show is a sell out. Plan to spend the afternoon or day here enjoying all of the exhibits.
