“An Enduring American Attraction”

The Statue of Liberty is a definitely worth a visit and must-see attraction, extremely impressive up close...but how far up you need to go is based on personal preferences. We climbed to the pedestal (there is also a crown ticket), it was quite a climb with young kids, and the views were probably as impressive as the top of the rock or Empire State Building, one of which is sure to be on any tourist agenda. I'd suggest spending time on the island taking some great pictures with the statue instead...

“Happy we went, but what a line”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

we took the kids to the statue over the thanksgiving day break and it was not to bad getting the tickets or the security checks to get on the boat. We enjoyed the ride out to the statue with the kids and the walking around the island, But the wait to get back on the boat was over 2 1/2 hours and in the cold. it was a total disappointment for us, we wasted hours and then it was so cold and the wait was sooo bad we didn't even get off at Ellis island.

“nyc must see”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

absolute must see, a few things to remember. you must prebook tickets to the crown, easily done on line before you go, it is about $20 inc the ferry to the island.
the spiral staircase is very tight, and you will get hot, the statue is warm!
there are restrooms in the pedestal.
all bags are stowed in lockers before you go in the pedestal, $2 each.

“Very impressive”
Reviewed 5 December 2013

A great experience to walk up inside. Had been pre-warned the view is not so spectacular (compared to high rise buildings) but I was suitably impressed. The museum was very interesting and audio tour worth listening to. My pre-teen children enjoyed both the walk up and museum.
