Rooms are large, beds comfortable, front desk helpful, F train 2 blocks away. Easy walk to Little Italy and vendors on Canal St. Noise from the train on the Manhattan bridge was NOT a problem on the 4th floor with a room in the front of the hotel. Felt safe walking the neighborhood at night. Would stay at this hotel again -- great value.

Train was almost reachable but after so much of activities, noises didn’t bother us at all. Hotel was clean and location was good and the price was excellent.

If you have a hearing problem, Hotel 91, in Chinatown, New York, is a fine choice.

The room I stayed in was quite large, clean, and the bed was comfortable.

However, the noise made by the passing trains, every five minutes or so, was so overpowering it made my stay almost unbearable.

I asked the reception for another, more quiet room. I was told I was actually staying in "one of the quiet parts of the hotel." Makes me wonder about the other rooms.

The hotel has no room service, in fact no food service at all. There is a vending machine on the fourth floor, mostly containing junk. The nearby restaurants were generally dreadful. There is, however, a Starbucks in the vicinity, but it takes about ten minutes to walk to it..

The people at the reception were ok, if somewhat impersonal and distant.

I can't recommend this hotel.

I stayed at Hotel 91 last year and was pleased. However, I just returned from there and found that the cleanliness left much to be desired. I was traveling with my students and stayed there because we were exploring the Lower East Side. One of my students noticed a mouse in his room. After checking under the bed, we noticed mouse traps and found them under our bed as well. We reported this to the main desk and they switched the student's room but they are obviously aware they have mice and do not have the problem under control.
Do not stay there.

I was really impressed with the hotel considering the low price I paid for the room. Hotel 91 was very clean and service is great. I had leftover food I wanted to heat up and the front desk let me use the microwave in their kitchen. Free Coffee/tea located in the lobby (second floor of the building along with the front desk). I thought the room size was perfect for two people.
I was a bit worried about the noise from the subway /traffic as remarked by other reviewers, but I didn't experience that problem despite having a room facing the bridge.
Location is also great depending on what you're looking for. The hotel is located in the middle of Chinatown (3 Blocks from the F train), surrounded by Chinese/Asian stores and restaurants, so there's not much variety in nearby restaurants.

Traveled to New York for St. Patrick's Day. Wanted a hotel that was clean and affordable. This hotel is in the heart of China Town. Had a great view of the Empire State Building from our hotel. Very cute boutique hotel. Would stay here again.

China town in NYC is a must and what a better way to see it than stay in it. Yes its a little noisy and crazy but overall this hotel is great value for money with overall comfy rooms. Transport is only a short walk away and most parts of Lower Manhattan are all walking distance. Would recommend!
