Owner description: The chapel is closed for restoration until work is completed in the fall. The churchyard will remain open. St. Paul's Chapel is part of Trinity Wall Street, an Episcopal parish that has been a part of New York City since 1697. The parish is deeply rooted in the city’s and the nation’s history. Established during the British occupation of New York and recognized by royal charter, Trinity was the first Anglican Church (which followed the services of the Church of England and included the King or Queen in its prayers) in Manhattan. St. Paul's Chapel was founded in 1766 as a chapel-of-ease at Broadway and Fulton Street. George Washington prayed there after his inauguration as President in 1789. Located just across the street from the World Trade Center, St. Paul’s played an important role in hosting recovery workers after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

To complete the 9/11 Memorial tour, one must visit St. Paul's. The rescue workers used the church to regenerate their weary bodies and get new boots after sifting through the rubble for hours in end. Very historical background to the church as well.

I enjoyed this short visit to this church. I found the stories related to 9/11 the most fascinating. Don't spend your money on a tour, just go.

Wonderful visit to this historic site. The building and the stained glass pieces were inspiring. A must see in New York.

The chapel is a lovely little piece of history that surprisingly survived the fall of the towers. We actually visited this site when it was still full of the memories of the people that struggled on at the carnage of the towers. It is very interesting in its own right and full of historical information. Well worth a visit when in that area.

Glad a friend suggested a visit. I would have missed something really special otherwise. Example of what a religious community should be.
