"The Met" is truly one of the world's greatest museums.

However, unlike the major museums in London and Paris, admission to the Met is not free. Currently, "recommended" admission to the Met is $25 for adults, children a bit less. This is technically a "recommended" admission donation, and sure, you can technically offer less, but be prepared to get a bit of pressure and a short lecture if you decide to do so.

That said, this is one of best museums in the world, including everything from old masters and a reconstructed ancient temple to a fabulous gallery of rare musical instruments. If you'd truly like to see the entire museum at a leisurely pace, plan to be here most of a day. The setting in Central Park is gorgeous, and you may re-enter after you've paid your admission. There are plenty of vendors outside the museum doors to supply your Central Park picnic.

Concerning admission: Yes, it's a bit high. But the gold standard always is.

You need at least a week to see it all, if you only have a day you will see fantastic displays to interest and awe you, if you only have an hour one exhibition will thrill. There truly is something there to excite everyone.

This museum has something for everyone with collectionjs from all over the world but requires several days if the entire collection is to be studied. The newly opened Rooftop Bar allows an excellent view of NYC from Central Park.

If you love artwork or are a history buff you will be in heavan. Loads to see in each section. I loved the stained glass works of art - amazing. Also grab a hotdog from the vendors out the front - they are delicious and I don't even like hotdogs!!!!

If you live in NYC - get an annual membership as one visit is not enough. If you are visiting, be selective about what you want to see as the museum is huge. The Egyptian Temple exhibit is impressive mainly because of the setting, which takes up half the size of a football pitch - and it feels like you have stepped into a temple location in the valley of the Kings or Luxor. Everything from glass, pottery, paintings to artifacts... if you like galleries and museums you will love this.
