“Loved It!”

I could spend weeks in this museum but we only had a day. We chose to see European Paintings 1250-1800 and 19th and early 20th century too. The paintings are just breathtaking. A must see destination for any art lover while in NYC. We also had time to see European Sculpture and Decorative Arts. They had the most beautiful furniture I have ever seen. We had lunch in the museum cafeteria. It was a little disappointing with a limited selection and extremely overpriced. We can not wait to return for more visual masterpieces.

“A must see!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

The Met is an icon. The expansive displays - each one more dazzling than the next. It would take a week or more to fully appreciate the entire massive museum. It is room after room of awesome. We had planned to spend 3-4 hours, but spent the entire day. Arrive early. School and tour groups make afternoon's crowded. Check the web site for evening hours certain days in the Summer. If time is limited, plan what exhibits you really don't want to miss and try to see them first. The paintings on the second floor are amazing (even if you really don't like art). So many masters in one place. Egypt and the Arms and Armor were my favorites. Kids age 13 & 16 got a little bored. They do have headsets with audio tours for rent. A good idea is you are going solo. The admission price is "suggested" so you can pay whatever you like to get in. Some people were paying $1 each. The cafeteria on the lower level has a wide variety of food, but a little on the pricy side.

“Excellent Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

The MET is one of those places filled with so many wonderful pieces of art from all over the world. It is one of the oldest museums in NYC and also one of the most well known the world over. Visiting this museum, be sure to devote at least 2 hours just to browse the museum. Also, after spending time in the museum, try to get into the rooftop bar that has some excellent views of manhattan. A little pricey, but certainly one of those very "New York" things that one just has to do if the opportunity presents itself. Definitely a wonderful place to visit while in the city. I will return.

“Rooftop garden was the highlight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 August 2014

I'd recommend the audio tour. The rooftop garden was spectacular. They could use a few more staff selling drinks on the roof as the lineups were long.
