“The Cloisters and Fort Tryon Park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 August 2014

Beautiful views of the Hudson River, walk through Fort Tryon Park and enjoy the paths and gardens. The Cloisters is not large but has an impressive art collection, gift shop and lovely garden in the center. If you are already paying entrance fee ( recommended $25 ) use your 24 hour ticket to visit the Metropolitan Museum on 5th Avenue for free, as well ).

“Great park.”

The art in the museum was interesting and beautiful. The views outside of the museum were very nice. I would suggest checking out The Cloisters to anyone in the neighborhood, but also spend some time in Fort Tryon Park.

“A hidden gem.....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 August 2014

My mother in law told me about the Cloisters 20 years ago, and I went there then and have always wanted to go back.
Yesterday I was there again - and what a hidden gem it is !
If you don't particularly like gothic and medieval art enjoy the surroundings. Beautiful building, calm gardens and a stunning view of the magical Hudson River.
Do not eat at the Cloister. Expensive and not very good. Visit the wonderful restaurant the New Leaf just five minutes away.

“Not only the interesting museum, but also a charming park”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2014

It is really an unique project: to gather remnants from several ruined and destroyed monasteries, and abbeys from France and Spain, transfer them to NY and arrange in the way nobody could guess that they are not the entity. Of course, it is less interesting for Europeans who saw many objects of this kind, but nevertheless the beautiful park there (I like it more than Central) makes this trip to the North Manhattan well worth.

A not to miss destination for anyone who likes not only museums, but the atmosphere of ancient times, combined with fantastic views and a wonderful nearby promenade
