Owner description: Just a short walk from Grand Central and Penn Station, the Morgan is a major exhibition venue for fine art, literature, and music, one of New York's great historic sites, and a wonderful place to dine, shop, and attend a concert or film.

We went to see a specific exhibit, but would recommend a visit to see what ever is showing. We didn't get to the actual library, but will visit that next time.

Wow. Wonderful collection of ancient, medievil, and renaissance art, books and letters not to mention the fantastic McKim, Mead and White architectural masterpiece. The library and study of the great J. Pierpont Morgan is an amazing look into the wealth of a leading gilded age family. The displays are clearly described (English only), but the audio headset is a great addition or for anyone that doesn't read English well. My only suggestion for improvement is that the staff could be a bit more friendly and outgoing to assist.

I've seen just about every touristy attraction in NYC when I visit my family there, so it was nice to find a new place to visit on my 6th trip to NYC. The Morgan was quiet and free of crowds, but I didn't feel that warm and friendly vibe at all. I felt like I was being watched, and not like the docents were there to enhance my experience. Do try to research the exhibitions on their website before visiting; if the selection doesn't intrigue you, you may want to think twice about visiting. If you've seen almost everything NYC has to offer, enjoy quiet spaces, and love literature and history, you'll likely get the most out of this museum.

The Morgan Museum and Library has a beautiful and fascinating permanent collection of items collected by the owner, art works, manuscripts, letters etc.
The Study, Library and other historic rooms are stunning.
When I visited there was a temporary exhibition on "The Little Prince" which was excellent.

Hidden gem

A remarkable insight into the world of the uber rich and powerful of the early part of the last century. Magnificent collection of rare manuscripts

There is a cafe in the new wing of the museum which serves excellent lunch time choices beautifully presented. The staff and service was very friendly and helpful

Well worth a visit
