Owner description: Just a short walk from Grand Central and Penn Station, the Morgan is a major exhibition venue for fine art, literature, and music, one of New York's great historic sites, and a wonderful place to dine, shop, and attend a concert or film.

The library itself is a grand cube with furnishings and stacks that are quietly opulent, and some stunning books and musical scores on display. The library manager's office is now home to a spectacular display of cylindrical scrolls.

Fabulous place to escape from the city buzz (a bit expensive on weekdays - go on a Friday night : it is free!). Nice temporary exhibitions. Fabulous rooms such as the main library and the office. Exceptional collection of manuscripts and books, some nice examples are on display.

The morgan salad is chock full of goodies like nuts, cheese, bacon, tomato and lettuce, and makes a full meal. The eggs Benedict seemed to be the house favorite, based on a visual estimate. Friendly staff, no reservation was necessary. An oasis in a crowded city.

Yes, there is the Morgan Library with its rare books on soaring shelves and imaginative decor; but there are also rotating exhibits unique in subject and focus and intimacy like Ai Wei. On selected evenings you can even enjoy chamber music after dinner in J.P.'s own dining room. Walk to and from your East Side hotel on charming Madison Avenue where you can window shop or just shop.

The collection is excellent. The library is wonderful. Hard to believe one man had this all to himself. The modern architecture really works with the older part of the house.
