My wife and I looked at Trip Advisor and saw there was another museum next to Central Park. We read up on it and decided to go on a Sunday. The line was pretty long to get in and I asked someone in the line why this would be. They said that on Sundays it's "pay what you want" day. Normally there is a fee to get in on a daily basis (I think $20 per person) but you could pay a dollar if you wanted to. The "house" was turned into a museum and the quality of works there was amazing. And you could almost touch the art but of course, there were security guards there to make sure you didn't. This was a beautiful place and worth the 2 hours we walked through the museum.

We visited the Frick as a family, and found the atmosphere unpleasant. While the art and artefacts on view are in some cases exceptional, on the day that we visited, the Frick seemed to be the exclusive habitat of elderly well-heeled pushy patrons, who seemed to labour under the delusion that they owned the place. Been there, done that, won't bother going back.

I love the collection and the setting. It was a perfect romantic date night! The museum is not intimidatingly large so it is easy to appreciate and enjoy the artwork as you stroll through the beautiful mansion.

A good selection well displayed although somewhat eclectic. Frick was one of the C19 industrial barons but spent his ill-gotten gains on a fabulous art collection available for public viewing after his death. The museum's film does not omit his role in the very bitter Homestead dispute when workers were locked out and murdered by the Pinkerton mercenaries for daring to organize a union
