After being greeted by a friendly doorman upon entering the hotel, I took a dedicated elevator up one floor to reception. Although that was a little weird, almost all NY hotels have something unusual because space is at such a premium.
The check in experience was outstanding. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. My room was nicely appointed (with a very cool large round mirror that also contained the TV). I don't usually watch TV in hotels, but it was very interesting watching the TV appear in the mirror and then turning the TV off and having it be just a mirror again. The WiFi was extremely fast (about 60 meg). The windows had blackout shades which is always a good thing and perhaps even more so in New York, because they might help damper some of the noise as well. The gym was small - it had weights, mats and a few cardio machines (but it was clean and good enough for my purposes).
The restaurant and the coffee/juice bar were both very convenient and good. Both Times Square and the subway are just a few minutes walk.
The most amazing thing about my stay was the quality of the housekeeper, named Tsultrim. I've stayed in lots of hotels and I've never seen anyone do all the extra things that she did in making up my room. Clothes were folded, she read my notes, her attention to detail was great and she was friendly when I saw her on my way to work in the morning. I was there for a week, so I know it wasn't a fluke, She is just terrific at her job.
