This hotel was quite conveniently located to Rockefeller Center and the theatre district. Subway was also relatively close by. Although the rooms are small, they are comfortable enough for a couple. Staff was very accommodating and provided prompt service when I had requested foam pillows. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit NYC.

Pros: Affordable, well located, comfortable stay
Cons: Smaller rooms than many NYC hotels
New York is one of those places where if you want super luxury you can get it. If, that is, you can afford it. The W Hotel strikes a balance between what you get and what you pay for it. In my view it's a solid hotel that'd cater well for pretty much anyone - couples, friends, solo business travellers.
Clean, tidy, compact, comfortable - it does the job and is well worth the cash. Bar downstairs entirely pleasant and the on-street location is well located for the vastness of Manhattan.
I've stayed in better NYC hotels and far worse ones. I'd come back here again if the price balance was right - surprised there are so many "thumbs down" reviews when this hotel succeeds in delivering way beyond the basics.

Last stayed here years ago. This time over the weekend before Christmas. The w time square 3x the price and 15 blocks away. Room is nondescript but clean and the beds comfortable. Very nice staff. Rather spend the $$ on the sites and restaurants .. Would definitely go back. People who complain about this hotel are not paying for it with their own $$$

This hotel was okay. Nothing outstanding but certainly met my needs. Room was spotlessly clean which really is my main priority. i do love W's Bliss toiletries and was not disappointed. The price for preChristmas in NYC was better than others I had checked.
The location of the hotel is great. Excellent area for people watching. Three blocks from subway that took my friend and me downtown. Within walking distance of Central Park and Rockefeller Center.
I would probably have been more satisfied if the management had honored my earlier request for two beds but they refused. I had booked the hotel on Priceline and therefore, the hotel would not let me designate bed arrangements.
Thank you for your feedback. I am happy that you enjoyed the cleanliness of your guestroom and our Bliss amenities in our WCs. My apologies we were unable to honor your request for two beds as W New York has only a limited amount of guestrooms accommodating two beds. Please do not hesitate to e-mail me at GMAnna.MacDiarmid@whotels.com when you plan to return. Thank you again, and we look forward to welcoming you back. – Anna M., General Manager
We booked an expensive suite to enjoy downtime after our wedding. Even though we live in New York we wanted to enjoy the luxurious accommodations. I can't say I was too impressed. I love the W chain, I love the design of the hotels, the trendy bars and restaurants and the Bliss spa but unfortunately found the suite quite small and no too impressive . I still like the hotel chain but not this one specifically.
Thank you for sharing with TripAdvisor. Please accept my sincere apologies for any disappointment in the size of your guestroom. W does offer a variety of room types and sizes to cater to our guests’ needs, and I sincerely regret that you were not informed of this. Please do not hesitate to write me at GMAnna.MacDiarmid@whotels.com when you plan to return to the city as I would be more than happy to oversee your next W experience. Again, thank you, and we hope we can welcome you back. – Anna M., General Manager
