As far as you can take and old hotel and try to make it as good as it can be, certainly the Peninsula would fall into this category. They invested in a great spa and health club. The rooms have been upgraded, although the decoration cannot compare to top european retrofits. However, I am biased...I cannot stand that I have to drag my luggage upstairs to get to the reception. I want high-speed internet and plugs everywhere. Service was very pleasant in all facets...room service, reception, concierge, spa. The main restaurant being closed did not help.
