The Casablanca is my "go to" hotel any time I'm in New York. It's conveniently located right off Times Square; the rooms are always well kept; and the service is impeccable. The atmosphere and staff are always friendly and personal.

Our stay at the Casablanca exceeded all expectations based on reviews we have read here. It was hard to believe we were only steps away from Time Square, in our room, and even in the common areas of the hotel. The staff here were all experienced, helpful, and professional - none of the rude New York desk-clerk attitude we've all experienced or heard about. They really strive to make their guests feel at home and to answer any and all questions to the best of their knowledge.

We booked a deluxe queen room and were please with the size and space of the room and bathroom. We've traveled in Europe and have squeezed into much smaller box-like rooms there. Our room did face the courtyard and was very quiet - no view, and you won't get one here. We came to enjoy the city, not to stay in the room. We used it to sleep at night, and as a quiet refuge mid-day; it served our purposes.

Breakfast was very nice. Self-serve buffet with hot toast and oatmeal prepared by an attendant. Much better than a chain-hotel continental, but not a hot, served, sit-down meal. Exactly what you see on their website. Again, you're in Manhattan, and you're culinary pleasures will come from fine dining, for which the city is renowned.

Afternoon wine-and-cheese was a nice touch. Everything was fresh, the wine good, not cheap. A nice transition from day to evening, or a nice welcome for those just checking in. They keep it open until 8, which is great for late arrivals, such as ourselves, when we were unable to get a taxi from Penn Station and had to walk to the hotel.

Yes, it's expensive, but don't come to Manhattan if you're not prepared to spend. We definitely would return.

Room Tip: for quiet, avoid street-side

First things first. If anyone is able to identify, at any hotel anywhere in New York, a team of staff better than those at the Casablanca, they are either lying or have never stayed here!

We booked in for two different stays either end of a two week, four state, five city trip to the United States. Our first four days were spent in Room 401, nice and quiet but very comfortable. The staff were unrelentingly pleasant without being sycophantic, a rare skill in any service industry. Every single one of them, from the front door to housekeeping via the front desk and Rick's Bar, were a credit to the owners of this quirky but excellent establishment.

The bed was huge and extremely comfy and, although there was no view from our window to speak of, the complete silence made for four nights of very enjoyable sleep.

The front desk staff were very welcoming and nothing was any trouble.

As others have commented, Rick's Bar on the 2nd Floor serves up a (very generous) free breakfast from 7am and free wine, cheese and nibbles from 5pm. Both prove to be very popular and again, the staff working in these areas are genuinely pleased to see you.

Our second stay during our trip was two nights in one of their suites. Unfortunately, Times Square was being spruced up and, unlike the UK, there appear to be no restrictions on when they can operate drilling equipment. As a result, we got very little sleep on our last night as the drilling was still progressing at 3am. This was not the hotel's fault of course and, while it would be tempting to say that they should warn potential guests that this is happening, I don't blame them for not doing so. After all, why should they lose business and anyway, as the song says, New York is the city that never sleeps!

I would thoroughly recommend The Casablanca. It is not the cheapest hotel in New York and it was far from being the cheapest on our trip. However, it was the hotel which I felt gave the best value for money and at their prices that could be no higher compliment!

We would jump at the chance of returning, but unfortunately can't seem to book yet for Christmas/New Year 2014. Will keep trying!

Room Tip: Ask for a room which does not overlook West 43rd Street.

Our first trip to New York. What a pleasure to be met by such friendly and helpful staff. Our stay for 3 nights was great, setting can't be beaten, room lovely and clean, bathroom nice and big.On our return from a boat trip two week later, our luggage was stored safely for the day and we were welcome to have coffee and eats on the 2nd floor, while waiting to be transferred to the airport! What wonderful and helpful staff 10 out of 10!!

Room Tip: The rooms facing 43rd street can be a bit noisey.

My girlfriend and i travelled here at the beginning of November and we had an excellent stay at the Casablanca Hotel, great location just off Times Square and friendly helpfull staff. The room was spot on, plenty of choice for breakfast and also the wine and nibbles in the evening was a great way to relax after being out in the hustle and bustle of NY all day. Would recommend.

Just spent 5 nights at Casablanca and found it perfect in everyway. The location is excellent literally on Times Square but so peaceful in the hotel itself. Breakfast and evening cheese and wine was good. All the staff were so helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend it.

This was our 2nd stay at Casablanca & if possible, it was even better than the last time several years ago. Room was not huge, but very comfortable and enough space for 2. Bathroom was very clean. Nice extra to have breakfast and drinks in the evening available. Location can't be beat. Staff was very friendly and welcoming.

Room Tip: Our room faced 43rd and there was construction going on. There was very little street noise in spit...
