Casablanca Hotel by Library Hotel Collection
Ranked #3 of 469 Hotels in New York City
Certificate of Excellence

The hotel is small and intimate. The staff are impeccable, polite, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is as Central as you can get so don't expect tranquility.

Breakfast is excellent with lots of nice fresh food. The rooms are not luxurious but clean and comfortable. The afternoon cheese and wine excellent.

Cannot be complementary enough about this hotel. Well done to everyone at the Casablanca.

My husband and I go to NYC once or twice a year, but stayed at Casablanca for the first time in May of 2014. The hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our room was extremely small but it was quiet and comfortable. We loved the large lounge on the second floor where they offered
24 hour refreshments and snacks, wine & cheese in the evening and a pretty extensive continental breakfast (I was very happy breakfast choices included unsweetened Dannon yogurt which I had with fresh fruit). The friendly staff offered to toast the bagels and toast, make the oatmeal, and make coffee drinks to order and bring to our table. It was fun to meet others during the happy hour time! But the best part of our experience was the terrific location of the hotel!

Great location, fabulous service, great value - we felt special every time we dealt with any of the staff - we will definitely return - thus is our new hotel of choice in the theatre district - Rick's Cafe is special and the outdoor patio was a great private spot for a glass of wine and just the two of us.

This was my fourth stay at the Casablanca. I keep returning because of the quality of services and staff and for being 2mins from all major subway lines. The buffet breakfast, all day availability of refreshments and pastries and the 3 hr cheese and wine reception every evening is included in the price but what really makes this hotel is the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel as these are much quieter at night.

If this review covered only hospitality, Casablanca would have gotten five stars. The personnel are, on the whole, terrific--very service-oriented. We also liked the fact that the second-floor lounge was open 24 hours with snacks offered complimentary to the guests, and the three-hour wine receptions were appreciated. We had a few problems that gave this hotel 4 stars: the first morning--the toilet wouldn't flush, and the shower wouldn't drain. (The hotel did fix these problems immediately.) The receptionist at the front desk in the evening of June 10 needs to be told that taxis going to the airport will give customers two options--using the meter or getting to the airport for a flat fee. We were told by the receptionist that the only option was the meter which was wrong.

Dear Calif0rniadreamers,

Thank you for staying with us. It was a pleasure to have you as our guest. We appreciate you taking the time to share your review on TripAdvisor. We love the compliments and we also appreciate the more critical comments as every aspect of the guests perspective helps us to continuously improve. I am very happy to hear you enjoyed our staff and complimentary breakfast service. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the service issues with your room. I glad to see we could fix these problems immediately. Regarding the taxi, I can clear up any misunderstanding. There is indeed a flat rate between JFK and Manhattan, regulated by the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission which all yellow taxis must follow, which is currently $52.00 plus any tolls and gratuity. The reason for having a flat fee is to prevent taxi drivers from taking the long route to and from Manhattan in order to increase the fare on the meter. If the driver has informed you otherwise, it is possible that he was new and was not aware of this TLC Rule and Local Law. If you were flying from LaGuardia or Newark airport the fare is regulated by the meter, and neither of those airports have flat rates.
If you have any questions or if I may ever be of service to you in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me at John@CasablancaHotel.com or 212-869-1212.

Sincerely,

John Taboada

Location of hotel was great and the staff was very gracious. Information we received from the staff was always reliable and straightforward. Ricks lounge was very pleasant and it was nice to be able to sit and relax after a full day with a hot cup of coffee and a little snack.
