“Beautiful Midtown Hotel”

On the plus sides :the modern and sleak design, the very good midtown location and the free wifi (with a good signal). The staff was very friendly too. But, a few down points : the buffet breakfast did not offered much variety (being there for 3 nights); the room size was just about OK but the soundproofing from A/C was kinda poor, despite being on a good floor (ie. far from the lifts and street noise on higher floors -room 1507). But overall, given the same type of room, i would definitely come back!
To be noted : transportation from the hotel is ok thanks to the relative proximity of grand central station (10' walk).

Thank you so much for your kind review! I am happy to hear that you would return to Morgans! Yes, we are near Grand Central Station which is worth paying a visit to even if you do not have to take the train. Lots of shops and great restaurants as well as a beautiful building of historical significance! Thank goodness they decided not to tear it down back in the 70's!

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel! It is super cozy, modern, quiet, clean, and it has everything and even more than expected.The staff is very nice, always helping the guests with whatever they may need. The rooms and bathroom are very clean and quiet. Location is great and the breakfast lounge and food the best! Congratulations, this hotel is PERFECT! Gonna be back and I recommend 100%! :)

Morgans NY has been the worst hotel experience I have ever had!!! They overbooked their hotel, and lied that I had not reserved 3 rooms even when I had reservation numbers that were generated by their hotel. The staff is extremely rude, and the day time manager, Robert has no authority to make any decisions (his words!!), the night time manager, James is just plain rude, and has zero customer service skills. When I asked to speak with their Manager who can make the decisions, they said his name is Ricky and he doesn't work on the weekends!!!!!! This hotel basically ruined our trip :(. We were 7 people squished into 2 rooms. no apologies and a crap compensation of $80 only. There are way too many choices and options in NY city to settle for this crap. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!

Thank you for your review but I would disagree - I think everyone should stay here!

I apologize for the mix up with your reservations. According to our records, there were only two rooms reserved and we understand that your confirmation from the third party reservation service stated that you had three rooms. We simply did not have a third room recorded. Having looked at the records of the third party reservations service we see that there were a series of bookings and cancelations. I feel that this was part of the problem. There was obviously a great deal of confusion. Not sure who was booking and canceling but that sometimes creates a problem. In fact, there is a record of 8 cancelations and 2 confirmations!

Upon your arrival at the property, we did our best to accomodate you. Also, the compensation you mention in your review is incorrect. Not sure why you would mention this incorrect information. On the day following your arrival, we offered you the additional room and you declined it. Not sure why if you were uncomfortable in the two rooms. We also made several adjustments to the rate to make up for this which you do not mention.

Finally, while we are very sorry this happened and will contact the third party to see why it happened, shouting at Front Desk staff is not a nice way to settle an issue. If I sound condescending it is because I feel if the two rooms were not comfortable, you should have taken the third room for the remainder of your stay. Why suffer?

A little gem. Spotlessly clean, comfy refurbished rooms, with low noise levels, slightly small but offering all the essentials. Friendly and efficient service. Delicious selection of bagels for breakfast! Will definitely return.

There is nothing more I enjoy than a quiet weekend in the city! As it gets warmer, New Yorkers flee on the weekends and the city becomes an oasis for those who remain behind!

We stayed 1st of May until 5th of May 2014. We booked through Hotel.com and paid on arrival {just be careful with your bank in uk - the hotel when we arrived asked for pre authorisation for the hotel stay sum and an excess to cover incidentals - thats fine and when we left we recieved a bill which was correct and were debited the correct amount on the final day by the hotel but the visa system takes about 14 days to take off the initial pre authorisation payment when you arrive, its nothing to do with the hotel just the way the visa system works -so beware!!}. Our first time in NYC and it was great and everything we expected and more. We had our eldest son staying with us so we had pre booked a one bed-roomed suite, which was fine, it was clean and suited our purposes ideally. The one bedroomed suite had a balcony and fantastic views of Madison Avenue and absolutely fantastic views of the Empire State Building -great light show in the evening. The room could do with a re decoration but it was okay, bathroom bit small but funky and okay. Beds fine, our son had a sofa bed which he said was fine and comfortable. We had air con which could be a bit noisy, but we were not too bothered as we slept well due to to the amount of walking you do in NY. Continental breakfast was fine. Staff were lovely and friendly and went out of there way to assist. Overall would recommend this hotel as a four star and would say its location and staff and in particular our room made our stay a brilliant holiday in NYC.

Room Tip: Choose one bedroom suite - pricy but worth the views

The Morgans hotel seems nice enough when you walk in. The entry way is small and right away you the boutique hotel feel. Front desk is very nice and accommodating and we decided to upgrade our room for fifty dollars which seemed reasonable. The hotel is clean and we were excited to see our room.

The hallways of the guests rooms are dark and scary. We opened the room to out one bedroom suite and we were disappointed. We could see into the room of neighbor who was lying in bed (awkward) and yes the suite was two rooms with decent furnishings but it was dark with no natural light. It looked like dusk in the room all hours of the day. The view was poor unless you wanted to spy on your neighbor. Creepy no privacy. I realize this is a building issue and what you get In Manhattan.

The bedroom was nice enough. View of the building directly next door. Beds were comfortable. Great soft linens. Awesome pillows. Heavenly. Tiny little clock that you couldn't see at night. But beds were clean. There were something that resembled blood splatters on the wall to the right if the bed. One of the lights was not working.

The worst part was the bathroom. It needs major updating. Tiles were broken and the light switch looked like it was never actually put on correctly. The craftsman ship in the bathroom was poor. The tub had spots in it from fallen grout. Grout was yellow and old. For a boutique hotel for over four hundred dollars I just expect more.

All in all the Morgans is more of a three star hotel not four. It needs updating and more specific attention to details of the room. It has potential to be a nicer hotel but the management needs to address those issues. I should not see broken tiles holes on the bottoms of light switches and lights that don't work.
That being said the concierge was friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. It's hard to find a clean bed in the city without bugs and the Morgans was a bed big free hotel!

Thank you for your review. While I am happy that you enjoyed the service and the cleanliness, I am sorry we missed the mark. Well to be very frank, most hotels in New York have rooms that do not have views. This is simply the case and unfortunately, something I cannot change. We are in fact working on updating and upgrading our bathrooms which will make a big difference - most have been completed.

Stayed at the Morgan for two weeks over the Christmas- New Year Period. We had a suite and for three people it was very spacious. WE had wonderful views down Madison Avenue and at night the Empire State Building would put on a light show for us

The beds gave us a good night sleep and the continental breakfast that the hotel provides to all guests in the morning is more than adequate and gives a good kick start to the day.

The location is wonderful. it was easy to walk everywhere and in close proximity to a metro station if feeling lazy

Room Tip: Ask for a room that looks onto the Empire State Buidling and is away from the lifts as the hallways...

I am so happy you enjoyed your stay and mention the breakfast. While we do not offer a European style buffet, it is still one of the best complimentary breakfasts in the city and offers a great value.

Walking is a great way to get around the city as is the subway but be sure not to keep looking up at the buildings - you may wind up tripping on the sidewalk! Also, for those not accustomed to New York, it is best to wait for the light to change - New Yorkers are used to dodging the traffic but not easy for everyone to maneuver!
