I stayed here for 5 nights in May, booked as part of a Virgin holiday. The location is about a 10-15 minute walk to Times Square and the nearest subway station, but it is ideal for seeing The Daily Show or Colbert Report (which I did whilst in New York). I was travelling solo but had no issues with walking around this less-touristy area on my own, obviously keep your wits about you but you need to do that everywhere these days. Room was surprisingly large (for NYC) with a very comfy bed. Had room service one night, interesting (in a good way) menu, not your usual room-service-type menu. The restaurant on the ground floor was nice if a little pricey. Overall a nice, quirky hotel that I would visit again if I went back to NYC

Ink48 is a Kimpton Hotel located on 11th Ave in NYC's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. The hotel is located amidst car dealerships and warehouses that surround the West Side Highway and 11th Avenue, but the area is safe and evolving quickly. Across the street on 48th is a Holiday Inn Express, a Comfort Inn and a small boutique hotel creating a little hotel zone on the fringe of the primarily residential streets that are between 9th and 10th avenues.

Summary: Nicely appointed hotel with a very friendly staff. Rooms are not big but a good size for NYC and well decorated with comoftable beds, modern baths and great views from the higher floors. Rooftop lounge has amazing views and is real destination spot.

Detail: Arrived at the hotel for a Saturday check-in. There is no large awning or stand-out identifier for the hotel and there were cars double parked in front, making it un-clear as to whether we were at the right place. We were able to park at the curb in front of the Toyota dealership which is next door to the hotel and the valet said it was safe to leave the car there while we checked in. Parking was $55/nt with no in/out priviledges - there are always other garages in NYC but none seemed to be within a block or two that had a better rate so we left it with the hotel.

Check in was fast and pleasant. The front desk staff were great, particularly Yannick one of the Front Desk Managers. We had reserved two rooms and were able to get them adjoining though there was a slight mix-up with the second room - everything was quickly and efficiently resolved. Rooms have large windows with views of the city and the river / NJ. Lots of sunlight, but nice window shades and blackout shades as well. Bathrooms were very modern and sunfilled with a nice clean decor and frosted glass doors that look cool and are surprisingly noise filtering. Shower heads are very high, and not easily adjustable if you are less that 5'11" or so but fixtures were nice and water flow/temperature was good. Nice magnifying mirror mounted to the wall and the typical assortment of good quality toiletries.

The room had ample lighting and outlets for device charging. The TV was a good size with a nice selection of in-room movies that were fairly priced. Closet had the traditional safe, loaner umbrella, robes and iron. Climate control was good with ability to run fan to provide airflow and white noise in addition to temperature control. The windows do also open out a little bit to let fresh air in if so desired. The hotel is pet friendly, but we did not see any pets or detect any pet-related wear, smells, or cleanliness issues during our stay.

Room service menu was okay but pricey and seemed to mirror the offerings at the restaurant on the ground floor - where the prices were better - but note, that the restaurant also adds an automatic gratuity of 18% which we did not catch the first time, and we ended up leaving a generous tip. It is marked on the menu, but could be overlooked if one is not paying attention.

The location is an easy walk to the Theater District and most of mid-town. Cabs were easy to get, and for those coming in by car via NJ, it is a breeze to get into and out of the area. Lower floors may be subject to more street noise, and there is a night club next door that should not bother those above the 8th floor or so.

We enjoyed our stay and could have gone to 5 stars if the valet situation was a little easier to navigate and there were fewer car dealership and more restaurants in the immediate area.

Room Tip: Ask for room on a higher floor if you want to minimize street noise.

I spent a week here on a business + leisure trip to New York. The room was very pleasant as always, internet is free if you are an intouch member, the rooftop bar was a very nice distraction and a bar I would care to visit even if I was not a hotel guest. The staff was super-helpful with everything. The location may not suit everyone but it was perfect for me, being away from the touristy crowds but close to everything.

We usually stay at the Kimpton's Muse but it's prime location is making it pricier these days so was looking for cheaper places. Kimpton is always a great choice. Went up for a theater weekend with a friend and we felt welcome from the start even though it was our first time in the hotel. We got a room with an incredible view. The River on one side and the city on the rest. Even though the hotel is a bit off the beaten path as others have said its not a far walk from the theater district, great restaurants and subways. Sorry we missed the happy hours that others have raved about. Next time we'll make a point of it. We'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: High floors have incredible views.

This was was 2nd time staying at this hotel, they're all friendly and eager to help their guests with everything. The rooms are beautiful and clean. The hotel is a away from the busy nyc vibe but a walk and you're able to find anything you need. The views from the rooms are beautiful as well. The spa & inroom services were exceptional. I plan to visit again.
