“Cute little wine bar”
Reviewed 28 June 2014

My husband and I went to Ayza for wine and cheese prior to heading to a show. We were seated inside. It is a very small space, so I recommend reservations. There was a small, tarp-enclosed outdoor seating area as well. It was really cold that evening, so we started with muled wine which was delicious and a great way to warm up. We ordered several types of cheese and accompaniments and enjoyed our wine choices. Our server was pleasant. The low lighting added to the nice ambience. Upon leaving, it was very bottlenecked at the front door as it is such a tiny area- that was my only negative. Probably hard to remedy this due to the establishment's size.

“Delicious and swanky without the ridiculous price tag”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I love this place. Been a dozen times and will keep going back. It's perfect for a first date, girl's nice, anniversary, happy hour etc. Whether you get just drinks, or some cheese/tapas or larger plates, you won't be disappointed.

The best espresso martini I've ever had. Seriously.
Delicious meat/cheese board. They don't skimp.
Fresh mozz/tomato plate is lovely.
Atmosphere is chic and intimate, but not pretentious.
For larger plates, the sea bass is amazing.
If you only want a "little something" for dessert - they have the answer! Chocolates and truffles are worth the $2 each.

Just be warned, the filet medallions is a small portion.
If you don't have a reservation, the place is small and you may be waiting a while.

TIP: For more social, try outside seating. For more intimate, head inside.

“Wine & chocolate, two great things!”
Reviewed 23 June 2014

I made an after-dinner reservation at Ayza to ensure that our group of six had a comfortable spot to sit and talk as opposed to walking in any old bar and not finding space. I think the general consensus was that Ayza is a nice little spot! Our table shared two chocolate "fountains" (basically chocolate fondue...) and enjoyed drinks. The chocolate fountain is quite hearty, possibly too big of a dessert to have after a fairly big dinner, even with an hour in between. We got two "two-person" size fountains with a variety of accompaniments. One was carb-centric with pretzels, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, etc. The other was more fruit-centric with strawberries, bananas, pineapple, etc. The fruit was very fresh, but the best were the brownie pieces! The chocolate chip cookies left a lot to be desired. A few of us had the sangria, which mostly had a grape flavor. It was good, but not the best I've had. Overall, Ayza is a very nice spot to enjoy a few drinks and snacks. Beware, however, that it is relatively small inside with ample outdoor seating - it might get very crowded during colder months. I'd certainly visit Ayza again, and next time I would try a different dessert and drink.

Ayza is a really fun spot for lunch. We had a great salad with the cheese sampler. The idea of having a few high end chocolates to select from was an interesting twist on dessert. The service was excellent and we would definitely go back.

“Great relaxing atmosphere, great food”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

A little gem tucked away on a side street. The food is excellent and the wine list covers everything. It is right across the street from a hotel. This restaurant belongs in Soho and is completely out of place in its location.
