The entrance from the street lets this quirky hotel down . The library honesty bar and the room décor are all great and very individual . There are a few restaurants nearby although the next door place is really a ( noisy ) bar serving some food . There was no one on reception when I left and breakfast did not start until 8.0 . The staff went out of their way to offer advice support etc

stayed over Sat night (7.20.13) to visit daughter. Very polite and friendly staff, great amenities. A wonderful library and snacks as well as bar, fully stocked with $3 drinks, in Chelsea district of NYC, tremendous. Cheese and snacks hit spot, free wine was sure fine. Rooms were second to none, everything exceptional. We will be back, already looking forward to it.

Room Tip: check them out online but really don't think you could go wrong.

This is the best thing going in NYC if you want a fun, relaxed place to return to after being out all day. The service is warm, efficient, and plentiful. There is a common space set up like a cozy dining area and library where guests can help themselves to snacks, drinks, coffee, tea, magazines, newspapers, books, a comfy couch or one of several seating areas. Complimentary museum passes. Excellent location. Room was comfortable and clean.

I took my fiancee to stay in the Parlour Room for Valentine's night and it was one of the most pleasurable stays and overall experiences I have had staying in New York. A wonderful vibe, beautiful surroundings and the most polite and friendly staff. Breakfast in the Library was a joy in itself. Go and experience this great find.

We spent three nights in the Inn and I have nothing but good things to say. In the Grate Room, you will wake up each morning to sun streaming through the skylight. Breakfast downstairs in the library is charming. Vijai always keeps a fresh pot of coffee going, and fresh fruit, frittata, granola, and bagels are plentiful and free. Dorothy, the resident feline hostess, is very friendly and will reward your scratching her chin or brushing her with loud and happy purrs. There are also madeleines at teatime and wine and cheese tasting on weekends.

The front desk has passes to almost any museum you could want to visit. The folks at the front desk give excellent recommendations for things to do and places to eat, and if they don't know the answer to your question, they're quick and eager to find you the answer.

We also took advantage of the great 20% discount on food downstairs at The Guilty Goose -- I highly recommend the burger and beer lunch special.

I don't usually like New York City because it's loud, crowded, frantic, and stressful. But as my stay at the Inn drew to a close, I regretted that I had to leave. This place is a hidden refuge of peace and relaxation that I'm very glad to have found!

After reading a number of great reviews of the Inn on 23rd on Trip Advisor, we decided to try it and are very glad we did. The Inn has an intimate feel and is filled with antiques and other eclectic memorabilia from owner Annette Fisherman's many travels. The location is great and staff could not be more helpful, from their first email to final farewell. With their help and access to several subways, we easily found our way to the Hopper exhibit at the Whitney, dinner at Novita, a great performance of the Weir at the Irish Repertory Theater and the next day to the exhibit of Sargent watercolors at the Brooklyn Museum. We'll definitely be back and look forward to a longer stay next time.
