Mount Morris House is an ideal place to spend any visit to New York City. It is steps away from a bus down 5th Ave and only minutes away from the Metro station. After a hectic day sightseeing it was a pleasure to return to this elegant, roomy and restful home within easy walking distance of many eating options (recommended by our friendly and helpful hosts).

Vasili is a wonderful host, he goes out of his way to ensure his guests comfort. He often has a full house, so book as early as you can. The B&B is located across from a park in Harlem, the front rooms face the Park (and a busy street). There's a bus stop on the corner that takes you south on Fifth Avenue, along the eastern side of Central Park, and if you fly into Laguardia Airport, it's a couple of easy bus rides to the B&B. It's in a beautiful old brownstone, high ceilings, the decor is beautiful, and the rooms are spacious and very clean. Each room has it's own bathroom (in our Jade room, the bathroom looked new). Every morning there's a wonderful buffet downstairs, lots of good food. Mention special dietary needs, and they will be met (we're both vegetarians). There's a small fridge for dinner leftovers, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/ available anytime. It's a very international clientele at the B&B, which makes for some interesting conversations! I thought the busy street outside the room might pose a problem, but the extremely comfortable bed and the rigorous sightseeing schedule negated that fear. Vasili knows his City well, he recommended a couple of excellent restaurants, knew the subway/bus routes to get certain places. We knew that anything he could do to make our stay a more pleasant experience, he'd do.

We have never stayed in a better place. Mount Morris House offers greate rooms, delicious breakfast and quiet surrondings. We culd sleep with open windows and didn't hear any noice at all. Breakfast round the hugh table was very nice, and you could get to know a lot of nice people also staying at MM House. We thought everything about the stay was perfect, and will recommend it for others. And of you like jazzmusic you will find Lennox Lounge nearby with livemusic in the night.
Many thanks to Vasili for his hospitality, you made our stay unforgettable.

Mount morris is an amazing premise, old world charm and charachter, lots of space and full of luxury and yet, incredibly homely and comfortable. Breakfast in the beautiful grand dining room was amazing and nothing was too much trouble for Vasili. it is on the fringe on Harlem but the M1 bus stops directly in front of the house and goes all the way through 5th Avenue to downtown and beyond. it was very safe and some amazing cafes and restaurants in very close proximity. the rooms are very large which we were not expecting in NYC, how amazing is that!! highly reccommend..

A beautifully restored Victorian home in Manhattan. Our stay felt very much like being “home in New York”. Vasili, the proprietor welcomed us and immediately made us feel like family. He carried our very heavy luggage to our upgraded suite which was a room fit for royalty. We had a nice view of Mount Morris Park from our Bay windows, a large dressing area with plenty of closet space and drawers, a room with a queen size bed and a living room with two couches. One couch transformed into another queen size bed, which for a sofa bed was really quite comfortable. The bathroom was quite nice with a walk-in shower (no doors or curtains – loved it!); excellent water pressure and hot water. This B&B has a nice mixture of turn of the century and modern living which includes a large flat screen TV with cable and free internet access.

Every morning a wonderful breakfast awaits you which is not your typical donut and coffee offering at other hotels. Fresh fruit, quiche, yogurt, bagels, muffins, oatmeal, cold cereal, toast, coffee, tea and OJ were what we encountered during our stay. You join the other guests for breakfast in a beautiful, formal dining room and share tips and information on the previous day’s excursions. This was most definitely one of the highlights of our stay. You felt like you were eating breakfast with the “family” before you went out for the day’s adventures.

Vasili made dinner suggestions/reservations for us, arranged for an affordable car and driver, (not a taxi) and gave wonderful suggestions of places to eat or grocery shop very close to Mount Morris House. He made himself available to help in any way he could.

You are just a few short blocks from the subway and a bus stop is right outside the B&B. We found it easy to get downtown and a nice place to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. We feel like during our stay we were able to experience what it would be like to be a New Yorker. We will be back!

We were very comfortable and loved the atmosphere at mt Morris house. Vasili was the perfect host. Having breakfast with the other guests was a highlight, with a huge dining table where we shared new York information and tips, it felt very homely. Bedroom was very spacious & comfortable, great shower, quiet most of the time and the whole house was lovingly restored and full of character. Our only criticism would be the distance from the centre, buses (from right outside the building) were very slow, it often took over an hour to get downtown, even longer to get home at night. There's always the subway for those who choose speed over window views of the city while traveling around. And the Harlem locals sometimes felt slightly intimidating, I guess if we had this quality of accommodation in a more central location it would have been twice the price.
