The room was small but that is typical of New York City.
There was no long mirror in the room. It was very clean. The bed was comfortable and staff was very courteous. Ashish and Stacy were great!!!!!

The hotel has an alright location, west midtown on manhatten. 15 min to walk to times square. the hotel was ok, but the service was awful. when we arrived in the afternoon, we immediately let the reception know that our toilet was not working; it seemed to be blocked. They told us we would have to wait until the next day to have it fixed, as the staff had no idea how to fix this. We asked to get another room, but this was apparently not possible. we were told to use the toilet in the basement until ours was fixed. though we fully understand that things like this can happen, the staff really should have handled this in another way. it would not have been difficult to call a plumber in the afternoon on a weekday in new york...

I had to lug my luggage in the rain to move from GEM to Quality Inn because they didn't fix the clogged toilet and internet connection problem in my room properly. While the move was a welcomed solution, I wish that the staff in both hotels had communicated better about my situation because I am now charged twice for the same night (by both hotels) for something that is not my fault

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting accommodations in Midtown. The staff were friendly and helpful - from dinner recommendations to help with transport to the airport - and they had a sense of humor, which I appreciate. It was a nice room - spacious and reasonably priced for NYC, and very clean. Easy walk to the High Line park and Times Square, and pretty quiet. I will stay with Gem from now on - no complaints, and lots of positives for this hotel.

My 14 yo grandson and I stayed here July 2 - 6, 2014. We wanted something near all the attractions and in our budget. We were delightfully surprised at how clean the hotel was considering the look of the surrounding area. The room was very well kept. We chose to sleep in each morning and our room was cleaned after we left for the day. Walking distance to eateries, attractions and the subway made this a good choice for us. Very comfortable bed! Vending machine and ice were readily available. It was more than we expected and we were very pleased with the staff at the hotel. My grandson forgot his laptop power cord at the hotel. When we arrived at our next destination, we called and verified it was there. The manager is going to return it to us as soon as we send an envelope. Thanks you for a great stay in NY!!

We chose this hotel as this was the only one in the Manhattan area that offers rooms with two double beds (good for two couples traveling together and willing to share a room). Definitely worth staying here (close to Times Square and attractions), rather than across the river in NJ and then having to spend time traveling into the city, looking for parking, and paying tolls.

Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms were neat and clean. Our room had a fridge, microwave, iron, and hairdryer. Our room was ready for us when we arrived around noon - 3 hours before the check-in time - which was nice. Hotel staff were responsive to all of our extra requests.

Parking just across the street in the parking lot @ $25 per day (24 hr period). Not bad, but you can't pay for a few extra hours if you need it - have to pay a flat rate of $25 per 24 hr period.

Overall, a good deal and good value. Would stay there again.

Hotel was clean and had everything that you need for a short break in the city. I would have preferred to stay in the Chelsea version of this hotel as it was near more places to eat and the underground. Where this hotel is there is a McDonald's and a gas station not someplace that I would want to walk around after dark. Also to make you aware the safe is 2 dollars a day and you are charged this on checkout.

Though Chelsea is more of a neighborhood hotel the Hudson Yard is unique in its own. There are many different options within walking distance that may have surprised.
