“Maybe they will solve the elevator problems”
Reviewed 9 June 2014 via mobile

After just staying at the Standard for one night I can only advise staying far away. We found our room to be acceptable (all be it small with a strange shower layout that for those with mobility issues would present a major issue) as were the dinning options which is good. Now for the problems during the course of a less than 24 hour stay we got stuck on various floors of the hotel for more than fifteen minutes each time with elevator issues. In two cases my wife and I walked down six flights of stairs exiting the building through a service entrance just to leave. Upon notice the hotel seemed unphased at the on going elevator issues and made little attempt to explain or make the issue right. A hotel of this cost must find a way to better communicate and handle there maintenance issues. We won't be back!

Dear Kyle H

Thank you for your review. I am so sorry for the elevator issues you experienced during your stay. This was an unforeseen circumstance and one that we take extremely serious. Our staff did everything possible to minimize the impact to guests and I am very sorry for the inconveniences this may have caused you.

We hope to welcome you back to The Standard, High Line soon!

Cheers,
Evan

Floor to ceiling widows, well laid out rooms and a comfortable stay at a reasonable price for the city. Plenty of places to eat in the area or at the hotel. Room service is pretty quick and the food is good. We will be returning again.

Stayed at this hotel last year - fortunately I was not paying the bill on either ocassion :)
Certainly not cheap, but does have the wow factor. Location is perfect within the Meatpacking district and also with direct access to the High Line (my favourite part of NYC - a must see). The rooms are very modern in design, arguably a little small, but well appointed. On this ocassion, if you were not good friends with your room mate, you would be at the end of the trip, as the bed was positioned directly against the wall separating the bathroom. This wall was glass. So you can lie in bed and directly look at the person showering just the other side of that glass :) No time for shyness...........

Best feature of this hotel are the huge windows and the views out over the city. Be sure to visit the roof top bar and the view gets even better. The gym also has amazing views, which distract you from the treadmill...

We had another great trip to NYC and our stay at the Standard was exceptional. Paul Cashman once again took great care of us and his hospitality is second to none. Our bellman, Wieser greeted us and made us feel welcome as a returning guest. Our room was on the 11th floor and it was exceptional. The service and food in the grill was excellent.

Room Tip: We would recommend a room on the 10th, 11th or 12th floors as there are clubs on the top of the hote...

We had a girls brunch here on a Saturday morning and we were not disappointed. We had a warm greeting and seated immediately. It is a great location and it's a great spot to people watch. The price was fair by new york standards and you have to try the breakfast potatoes.......delicious. Don't remember the name of our server but they all seemed attentive. Would highly recommend. Also, if you get a chance check out the high line, wish I had time to.

The Standard Highline is a fun and funky hotel located in Chelsea and built right up over the Highline park. The hotel is very nicely designed. The rooms are fairly small, but well laid out. The bathrooms are an open European concept with shutters between the bathroom and the main part of the room and feature a large soaker tub. I recommend filling up your tub at night, turning off the lights, opening the shutters and enjoying the fabulous view of the city at night. The bed was super comfortable and I loved the toiletries ( Kiss my Face products). The service was cheerful and friendly. We got some great recommendations from the front desk staff as to the best way to see the Statue of Liberty- loved the Clipper City Sailboat tour! I was also surprised at how quiet the rooms were. A bit of background noise filtering up from the beer garden next door, but I guess this is why they thoughtfully provided earplugs. Had great sleeps overall. Two thumbs up to The Standard. I enjoyed my stay.

I have just gotten home from a week long stay at the standard - please do yourself a favour and skip staying here. The staff will treat you like second class citizens, they will lie to your face regarding what rooms are available and how the night club policy works, you will be able to hear everything people in the next room are doing. Everything. And for 400+ dollars a night you will be offered a shower with hostel-like surroundings and no door. And while the views from the nightclub are great, please don't order the bar menu. For 10 dollars you will get one square inch of wagyu on a stick. Style over substance is predominant here.
