“This will be our NYC hotel of choice from now on!”
Reviewed 2 June 2012

What can I say that hasn't been said by all the positive reviewers here.
Before we even arrived, Beanca emailed me to make sure things are ok and that she'd have something special for my wife for her birthday later in the week. Sure enough we had a high floor room with a great view of the Empire State Building. For her birthday Beanca sent up a birthday cake. I thought the great room was good enough but Beanca sent my wife a birthday cake as well. What a great gesture! I can't remember the name of the girl who checked us in. She talked to my little girl when we checked in. During our stay whenever she saw us she'd wave at my little one which made her feel very special. Thank you so much for that.

The room was great. I've been in smaller rooms in NYC so i can't complain about the size of the room because I thought it was fairly large. The fridge was great as we could buy milk from the pharmacy a few steps away from the hotel and the little one would have something to drink before going to sleep. The shower. It was great! I love it that it actually has a good flow of water pressure. After a long day of walking through the hot and humid weather, coming back for a relaxing shower was very soothing.

Otherwise. Great hotel. Clean. Friendly staff. There was some noise from the street but the room was generally quiet. This will be our hotel of choice when we visit NYC from now on.

Room Tip: High room if you can get it.

The Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th Street is a clean, well-staffed, and centrally located hotel. Less than a block from Macy's, a block from the Empire State Building, a few minutes to Times Square, and convenient to the subway system. One can easily walk to either Penn Station or Grand Central in about 10 minutes. If you drive, they have an arrangement with a parking garage on 26th street for discounted pricing. (Of course in NYC, "discounted parking" is relative...).

We had two rooms during the stay for four guests. Our rooms faced 35th Street and were on the 12th floor. Street noise was not an issue. The rooms were clean and comfortable, although not as large as one might find at Hilton Garden Inns in other locations. Space is a commodity in the City and visitors will likely spend little time in the rooms outside of sleep, shower, and sorting out plans for the day/night. The A/C worked well and kept the rooms comfortable (allowing to keep the windows closed, thus reducing any street noises issues).

The hotel is serviced by three elevators. During our two night stay, it seemed as if one elevator was out of service at some point or another. This slowed getting to and from rooms a bit, but was not overly intrusive. Peak times in the morning were a bit slowed by only two elevators, but nothing to stress over.

The lobby has a small bar/lounge area to get a drink. A nice spot to relax and decide "what next". There is a hotel restaurant, but we did not take advantage of it. With so many food options in the city, I find it difficult to "eat in" when so much awaits outside.

Pricing is very competitive for NYC. It was Memorial Day weekend, so in an off-peak weekend, prices could be better.

If returning to NYC for a stay, we would very much consider this location again.

Stayed here from 23-27 May 2012 in room 1605 ,the hotel was excellent and roomsize good considering the perfect location of this relativly new hotel (macys literally 2 minutes away ). Everything worked as it should ,shower was brilliant, lifts slow but as was on holiday wasnt really into rushing.food very good.

As soon as we walked in we could not have been looked after any better staff are brilliant ,
It would be unfair to single anyone out as every staff member we met couldnt have been nicer or more helpful. nothing they didnt seem to know or help with ,will def stay there again ,and i would recommend to anyone .

Room Tip: 1605 views directly onto the front but very quiet fine if you dont want empire state building view...

We were lucky to choose this really good hotel. The hotel is in excellent central location and just near a subway station to get anywhere you want. A lot of shops and drugstores nearby. Fridge and microwave oven in the room that can be really convenient. In the morning you can have coffee, tea or hot chocolate downstairs for free, in the evening there is lemonade. Breakfast for only $10 in the hotel is very good. Wi-Fi Internet for free in the rooms. In the Business Center you can print your papers for free.

My partner and I visited New York for a brief weekend after getting a fantastic discount with our airmiles.
The hotel is very conveniently located in central NYC and to get to it we booked a taxi transfer from JFK beforehand which was definitely worth the money after an 8 hour flight rather than having to que with the rest of the long line of weary travellers.
The property is near to all the major shopping areas and due to the lack of a restaurant in the hotel for breakfast we found some great little deli's within 2 hundred yards from the front door.
Its clean, spacious and good value.
There is nothing more you would want for a brief stay in the big apple !

Room Tip: Higher floors have good views !

I brought my daughter to NYC to see Wicked and we stayed one night using HHonors points. The room was small but adequate and the staff was very good. We shared a king bed because there were no rooms avaliable with two beds. One side of the adjustable air bed deflated in a matter of minutes and would not hold air. I was told this is extremely rare, but I have been told that before at other HGI's (I'm an HHonors gold member). Maybe I'm just unlucky, but this has happened to me on at least two other occasions (deflating bed). When these beds work properly, they are excellent, but when they don't work, they are horrible. I have back issues and like these beds when they work, but when they don't, it's very bad news if you have back issues.

Great location, great staff, clean, safe, and feels new. Good value for any NYC hotel, especially mid-town. I loved the tall, good flow shower - a rare find in any hotel anywhere.
