I had a hard time finding a decent and affordable hotel close to Penn station, as I was arriving by train. This hotel is 3 blocks away and close enough to easily walk lugging a suitcase and carry-on. If you have stayed in other Hilton Garden Inns, this one is not quite as spacious, but it does have the usual great beds and great staff. Within 2 blocks of the Empire State Building and a few steps from the subway. Several elevator mates have stayed here repeatedly because of the central location. You can get almost anywhere in the city from here for about 10.00. Taxi fare or less. Watch out for unmetered cabs.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side view the Empire State Building day & night. Elevators are quiet, so don...

Small hotel, small room, small service.
For anyone used to quality of accommodation and customer service in Asia, brace yourself. This is well below what you are used to.

Good -
- easy check-in, check-out.
- korean restaurants nearby, if you like the food.

Bad -
- no restaurant in the hotel, and limited bar.
- gym is so small
- no pool
- forget about late check-out (they will hammer you with fees, US$109 for 4 hrs...)
- concierge with no real expertise (only OK to give out free maps)
- in-room dining platters in the corridors all day

Very quiet and comfortable hotel, less than 1/2 block and 1 1/2 blocks from subway. Only ten rooms to a floor; never heard a sound from inside the hotel and few from outside even though we were on the fourth floor. Great bath and bed. Dinky lobby and spartan breakfast area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will stay there again.

This hotel is a terrific find in Manhattan. Great location, friendly and helpful staff, nice size rooms with good bathroom, nice breakfast, good fitness room and great price. Parking lot is around the corner if you drive, but subway is right outside the door and is easy to negotiate. This is our "go-to" spot in NYC.

My stay at the Hilton Garden Inn on West 35th Street was a positive experience. While the room was small, it was well-appointed and modern; I particularly appreciated the fridge and the glass shower. I booked a room with a view and requested an upper floor, and my room was very high up, with a view of the skyline looking north through the picture window. For the most part, the room was clean, though I did find hair on two of the towels. The staff was friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the complimentary, consistent wireless access. The hotel is in an excellent location, less than a block from Herald Square. I was traveling for work and found it centrally located for the Midtown locations that I needed to visit, though I'll probably look for a hotel a few blocks further north the next time I have meetings around/north of Rockefeller Center. Overall, I'd definitely stay at this hotel in the future and would recommend it to fellow travelers for business or pleasure.

Room Tip: I'd recommend requesting a room on a higher floor, as doing so will improve your chances of havi...
