“Great location, friendly staff and a wonderful time!”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

The Seton Hotel in NYC is great value, in a perfect location and has wonderful staff. I was most impressed by one receptionist named Da'ryl. A receptionist by trade but more useful than any concierge that I could ever imagine! She was so helpful and any question was welcomed by a fantastic smile! She was able to supply information that any tourist would require. She absolutely made our trip, and I hope someone in charge is able to see this message because you have an absolutely indispensable member of staff!!!

*****

Room Tip: Shared bathroom is a great way to save a little bit of cash :)

Me and my partner stayed at the hotel for 4 nights from 18th to 22nd June. We arrived at the hotel at about midday and they let us check straight in which was perfect after a long journey to New York. The room was of a good size, well decorated and had ensuite bathroom, the whole hotel was very quiet and well kept, the staff were very friendly and helpful. You have to leave your key on reception when you go out but is this really a problem? To me this was a good thing as meant another time I didn't have to carry round! Staff were always on the desk to get the key straight back .Hotel come with free wifi which was very helpful so we could plan what to do the next day. The location was perfect with just a 5 minute walk from grand central and 10 minutes from Empire State Building. We got to the hotel using nyc airporter shuttle which the first stop was grand central which really shows how good the location is. Lovely lounge that you can wait in if you have a late flight and they also keep your luggage if you wish to venture out. Would defo return and recommend to friends, thank you for everyone at seton hotel that made our stay so enjoyable

Nice, clean and modern looking hotel, decently located and good value.
However, although I had been allowed by one employee to used the shared bathroom for a shower after checking out (11am, btw!), on the day I was leaving a new guy didn't allow me. When I came back for my bags he had left a note to the person on the next shift saying that someone had asked and she wasn't supposed to allow it. The hotel was empty, so what's the problem??? This awful service by one person ruined the experience

First: thanks for all of the positive comments ( 3-4 "stars" in all but one category).

The reason we are unable to offer showers to our guests who have checked-out is just that. You are no longer checked in as a guest of the hotel. What we do offer our guests is to store your luggage, relax in our lounge and enjoy free coffee and tea on your day of departure.

BTW 11AM is a fairly typical check-out time throughout the US. Your other comment about the Hotel being empty; how could you possibly know that?

We booked a hotel through one of those sites where you don't get the hotel name as it was just me and my wife for 1 night.
The hotel was small and quaint. The front desk crew was very friendly! The hotel was very clean and quiet. We were on the 1st floor in the rear of the hotel. Not much of a view, but not really necessary when you think about it.
The hotel is rather close to Grand Central, Rockerfeller Center, and Times Square. There is food and a store less than a block away.
Highly recommend for a place to sleep and use as a launch pad for a great day in NYC!

My wife and I lodged at the Seton for two nights in mid-June. We thought both the hotel and staff service were excellent. We have seldom stayed in a hotel with equal fidelity about cleanliness, both in our room (private bath) and in the public spaces. Though located right off the lobby on the first floor, the door was sound proofed and we never experienced noise either from the street or the hotel itself. The "Q" word for Quiet is probably the most important single hotel criteria for us, and we slept very well at the Seton. Room and bath were spotless, and plenty roomy enough to meet all our needs. Housekeeping excellent. The hotel held our bags on our last day. Staff were great, special thanks to Ryan for his welcome and for sending us around the corner on Lex to Scotty's Dinner-- a real New York eatery. In addition, the hotel's mid-town location, two blocks from Grand Central cannot be beat. In sum an excellent, and very professional small hotel.

Room Tip: Room just off Lobby with sound proof door is completely quiet.

We thought the Seton was terrific. The location is perfect due it's proximity to the Grand Central Station. Our every day started there so it was ideal. The staff were the most friendly, helpful and informative hotel staff we have come across anywhere. The ensuite room (although not the biggest) was kept extremely clean and tidy as was the bathroom. We slept well and heard nothing from other guests. We were on the 6th floor so outside noise was not too bad. The free coffee was very welcome at any time of day and I enjoyed the sitting room for relaxing and preparing for the day ahead. If I returned to NYC I would have no hesitation about going back to the Seton as it helped to enhance a fantastic holiday in a fantastic place.

Good location near the Grand Central railway station. Friendly staff, spacious room and a nice clean bathroom. I read about recently renovated rooms but I don't think ours was one of them. The room had muddy-coloured walls and stale carpeting. At least compared to our room the pictures on the website are misleading! Door wasn't soundproof which we noticed particularly well because our room was located right next to the elevator and people passed by all the time. Overall, I would try another hotel next time but we did get our money's worth.
