This reasonably priced upscale hotel is great for any traveller. We were there with two young children and the Marmara has a large 1 bedroom condo with a full kitchen, comfortable bed, two big screen tv's and fabulous views of the entire city. The service was always friendly and welcoming.
This upper east side location is great since it is near all the museums, Central Park, restaurants and good shopping.

My friend and I had the pleasure of spending 6 nights in a lovely one bed apartment here during March and as a first timer to NYC I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. With the space that most NYC hotels lack - having an apartment fully equipped with many home comforts meant that we were able to fully utilise the experience as we knew what a wonderful place would await us upon our return from the long days trekking round the city.

The location gave us the opportunity to walk down a different avenue into the heart of downtown Manhattan each day and experience the true Manhattanite experience. The staff from the doormen who greeted us warmly each time we entered, to the concierge/front desk who were always informative to the cleaners who we never saw but always ensured our apartment was ready when we returned made sure the whole experience was was beyond our expectations.

I would warn you of the works and "explosions" on 2nd ave in preparation for the new subway line but the disruption was minimal and didn't bother me but may be worth noting. Apart from that can't wait to visit again and I can't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else!

I am a native Manhattanite who now lives in China but frequently returns home to visit family and friends. The Marmara is a true "home away from home" for me, and like another recent visitor, I wouldn't stay anyplace else in NYC!

The rooms are modern, convenient and spacious, most with gorgeous views of the Manhattan skyline (Empire State Building included) and of the East River, and they are fully equipped with a full-service kitchen that enables one to save on meals if you so choose-- though the neighborhood has many lovely restaurants within walking distance.

The staff are always gracious and accommodating, handling all requests with speed and efficiency. They really do make one feel "at home"! They are knowledgeable about New York (though others need this more than me) and help one to access services in the vicinity with ease.

The Marmara represents the true style and grace of my hometown and is ideal for families or singles, with lots more space than other hotels like it. It just can't be beat!

This was our third trip to NYC.

We had previously stayed in Jersey City and decided to try to stay in Manhattan if we could find a reasonably priced place. After searching many locations and reading countless reviews, we decided on the Marmara.

While a little off the beaten track (upper east side residential area), the Marmara is surrounded by great local places to eat, drink, shop, etc. The nearest subway is four major blocks away and requires a hike up steep East 94th but once there, you are only mins from Central Park, Museum Mile, or a cheap subway ride downtown.

There had been comments posted about construction at the base of the hotel so I requested a higher room (we got 19A) which was a very clean and spacious one bedroom suite with living room, kitchen and one bath.

It turns out the "construction" is for a new 2nd Ave subway line being built directly in front of the hotel. Early on three weeknights, the hotel was rocked by explosions as crews blasted the new tunnel. Given the general noise of NYC, however, surprisingly this was more of a novel experience than something to complain about BUT...be warned.

The room was very clean, the staff was great, every request was met quickly and courteously.

My ONLY complaint was that despite getting a discounted rate on the room, the price per night jumped by almost $50 once the additional taxes were added...an additional $250 for 5 nights. While this was displayed on the quote in advance, the budget-minded traveler should consider this a $300/ night hotel. Being three of us (me plus wife and daughter) I had originally been shopping for the most possible space in the low $200/ night range but decided to take a chance on the Marmara based on TripAdvisor reviews. While more than I wanted to spend and EVEN with the explosions, it was great coming back to our room at the Marmara after viewing the many sites of NYC each day.

We would definitely return and would highly recommend the Marmara Manhattan if within your budget.

I'm a frequent visitor to NYC, both for business and cultural tourism, and usually stay in one of a number of mid-priced hotels in midtown. On my most recent, eight-day, visit, I tried the Marmara Manhattan, and I'll never stay anywhere else. Staying at the Marmara is like having your own apartment in an Upper East Side luxury building. The rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished, with a well-equipped kitchenette and great views. The front desk staff couldn't have been more welcoming, and greeted me by name from the first day. The location is excellent, with easy access to the subway and a wide variety of reasonably-priced neighborhood restaurants. What a pleasure to be out of midtown, with its $19-dollar pastrami sandwiches, et. al. Discounts are available for stays longer than an overnight, making the room rate a real bargain (Internet is free). I can't recommend the Marmara highly enough.

This is an apartment hotel with full kitchens and was great for traveling with an infant. The carpets were somewhat stained, as was the furniture. The furniture is pretty utilitarian (think IKEA). The location is fine providing you need to be on the upper east side, which we did. It's not a great general location if you are touring New York.
The service was very good, however they failed to mention that checkout was at 11:00 and they could have been a bit more pleasant when they called to tell us to get out of our rooms, agreeing to an 11:30 checkout as the absolute latest.
