Some old world opulence mixed with modern convenience. The rooms are very comfortable, I'm not so sure there's a bad view in the whole building. The front desk is really world class, its perfectly located, and the Tick Tock diner is both fun, filling, and not so unreasonably priced for the city and location.

Room Tip: the suites are worth the price/upgrade

I have had two wonderful stays at this hotel! I visited in March and then again in November. Each time, Tony helped me at the desk. He is wonderful and helpful! He really helped accommodate my family and make sure we had a room that would fit a crib for my son. The price was right both visits, and the hotel is always so busy! I think this is the perfect location. You're far enough from Times Square that you're not in the middle of everything crazy, but it takes you 5 minutes to walk there! YOu can easily walk south to the Village or walk north to the upper west side! We will absolutely stay there again!

Great price, good location and very clean. Highly recommended. I liked that Penn Station was next door and that most landmarks were within walking distance. The room was clean and well appointed. Overall a great value and a historical gem.

We stayed for 6 nights at the New Yorker hotel and it was a great experience. We had booked a suite and were not disappointed. Two nice big rooms one with 2 lovely comfortable beds. The other is a lovely sitting room with a sofa (very welcoming after a long day in the city) and a table and chairs.

Breakfast in the sky lounge was included in the price of our room and it was brilliant for setting us up for the day. Endless coffee, juice, pastries and bagels and lots more. All delicious and with a view over the Empire State Building. Just brilliant. The tick tock diner attached to the hotel is good, but the prices are quite steep. Coopers restaurant in the other side of the lobby is lovely, very good food in nice surroundings.

Everyone knows where to go in NYC so I won't list all the usual places, but would recommend seeing a sporting event at Madison Square Gardens, one of the highlights of the trip. Amazing entertainment in a great venue.

Thank you New Yorker hotel for being a wonderful base for us to enjoy the city.

We recently stayed here and it was the last part of our trip of a lifetime, we had already been to Vegas (MGM) see other review, we also stayed at the westin st Francis in San Fran see other review, this hotel was disappointing on arrival, we were greeted by a woman who could barely speak to us, she demanded a credit card payment for $135, we told her we don't have a credit card we only had a cash card which we were advised to take instead of cash, she said she would have to take it off there straight away, we said no to start with as this was our spending money, she then refused to check us in, she did how ever say if we gave her $250 cash we would get that back when we leave, we told her that the last two hotels had just swiped our card and not taken any funds unless we used anything in the room, she said they could not do this, we eventually had to give in as we could not check in otherwise, we got to our room on the 23rd floor and it smelled musty the room was dark and tiny and dirty, we tried to sleep as we had come in on a night flight and I can tell you now I have never heard so much noise in my life,( I'm a sales rep and spend lots of time in hotels) this is the worst one for noise I have ever stayed in. We woke later that day went downstairs and complained they moved us to the 28th floor which smelt better and was a brighter room but still very dated and in need of a strip back and re decorate, I appreciate the hotel is old but in our book there is no excuse for musty dirty rooms, and as for taking the $135 off us there was nothing in the room for us to have, no drinks nothing so I really didn't see the point in the charge.
Very unhelpful staff, this was the last leg of our holiday and I have to say I will not be going back.

My wife and I arrived here for a 3 day ,first impressions on arriving at hotel was the huge hotel foyer, the check in was ok not a really warm welcome, our room was dated and very small no wardrobe to put clothes away, but it was clean, the location was fantastic, but hotel was nothing special.New York itself was Fab shame about the unhelpful folk in New York, customer servive in shops like Macys and Penn railway station was absolutely shocking summing up good hotel hotel but pretty average.

Accidentally missed the last bus home so we quickly looked up a place to stay as our phones were dying. Made reservation and walked to hotel. By the time we got there the reservation was secured and our room was set. The front desk person, Nathan, was friendly and even upgraded us to a suite. Suite was nice, small - but I expected that in the city. One room with comfy loveseat and tv and wet bar, open French doors to bedroom with very comfortable full sized mattress. Great View of the city from the top floor!! (and a docking station to charge the phone)
