Only had 3 nights in New York & were very happy friends recommended the New Yorker to us. Great service - we had to change our original reservation three times, and it was never a problem. Easy check-in and check-out & they were happy to give us a later check-out time so we could make the most of our last day in the City.

Room Tip: There were eventually 4 of us so we upgraded to a suite. They gave us one with an extra bathroom &am...

It was a great stay for an old hotel it was well kept. With the busy thanks giving day and the parade I truly appreciate the location and the view we got from our room! It was a convenient location just walking distance to the subway, Times Square, Macy's, and a short taxi ride to the theaters.

The New Yorker Hotel is in such a great area, so close to everything. I love walking out the revolving doors and knowing I can walk to Times Square in 10 minutes. The fellas in the mailroom were fabulous and so friendly and efficient. Housekeeping were spot on every day.

Room Tip: We paid extra for a guaranteed view room and we weren't disappointed. Our view over the Hudson...

This hotel is typical Art Deco, and just ticks so many boxes. Walking distance to Macy's, and Times Square. Madison Square garden is literally just across the street. Subway nearby, plenty of convenience stores, taxis, everything you want.
Ok it's a little busier than uptown, but who goes to New York for peace and quiet?
Tick tock diner is basic but good value, and the check in staff are friendly and efficient.
We upgraded to a suite, which was comfortable enough, bit smaller than I'd have liked, but as a peied a tere, perfect.

Lovely hotel with an excellent location. Very good service, beautiful lobby, rooms are nicely decorated. Our room had brilliant sunlight every morning. It was very easy to go to a Broadway show, visit Columbia University, and do some shopping from this location.
The rooms are on the small side and the bathroom had a bit of peeling paint. Compared to other 4-star hotels, some people could be disappointed by these features. However, I appreciate the challenge of renovating an older, classic New York building to current consumer expectations. The pleasant stay we had here definitely deserves a Tripadvisor 5 rating.

Reception.
Friendly, efficient, professional. Reception area impressive. Two sets of lifts serve floors up to 20 and then above 20.

Room.
On the 34th floor. Not huge but adequate. Consists of a bed, two bedside units, 4 drawer chest and a dresser with a chair plus TV. The wardrobe was built in and by the entrance door. This bit of the room was a tiny corridor and had no lighting so difficult to see in the wardrobe especially when accessing the room safe (free of charge)at night. Good job I had a torch... or should that be flashlight? If you want extra seating opt for an upgrade. The view from the window was out towards the Hudson River to the side or some office/accommodation blocks to the front. No tea coffee making facilities in the room...why not? As we were on the 34th floor vey little traffic noise was heard apart from emergency sirens.

The bathroom again was smallish but how much time do you need to spend in the bathroom. There is a shower over the bath (small size bath). The temperature control for the shower is manual adjustment of the hot/cold taps. Took a while to get the right temp. Pressure good though. The tiles in the bathroom had been painted over and in some places the paint was flaking off. Not a good look.
Overall this is a decent enough hotel for a short stay.
Didn't use gym facilities so no comment.

Two eateries based in the hotel but not sure if either is hotel controlled. Will review these separately.

Room Tip: Higher rooms to avoid traffic noise
