“Good for business travellers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Room was small and basic but very clean. Bed was really comfortable. A coffee maker and bottles of water in room would have been helpful. Good stay.

Spent 2 nights, room was clean but very basic. View was of an alleyway which was disappointing. Location was great, so central for everything. Ate in the Tick Tock Diner, was OK but very busy with too many tables squashed together. Impressed with the security checking key cards etc. Would stay here again for a short stay.

Spent 4 nights here during our honeymoon. Mid-range hotel - highly priced, as all New York hotels are. Rooms are small and basic, as expected, but clean. Staff very helpful, and the location is fantastic for walking to Times Square and other attractions. We were upgraded to a city view room for our honeymoon. Certainly wouldn't mind staying again, but would look further for more affordable options first.

The location of the hotel was great. It is New York and it is noisy. They upgraded us, which turned out to be a handicapped room. It was large. The staff was very helpful. They were willing and answered all our crazy questions. On our last day we had the odd smell of cigarette smoke in our bathroom. Housekeeping and security did arrive promptly and try to resolve the problem. We awoke to the same horrible smell the next morning. No one could figure out where the smell was coming from. Maybe the rumors are true, the hotel is haunted! The manager worked it out to our satisfaction.

My daughter and I recently stayed at the New Yorker Hotel for 5 nights. I have nothing but good things to say about the property and especially the staff! We were made to feel welcome from the time we walked in the door. Omelia bent over backwards to find us an amazing room. We had only booked a room with one bed but when she saw that it was a Mother/daughter trip, she took the time to find us a room with 2 beds and 2 bathrooms! The hotel was in a great location to see the shows on Broadway. We will definitely stay at this hotel in the future.

And exactly it is the location and the friendliness of its staff that makes this hotel very good.
Indeed, the rooms (we stayed in a suite on the 40th floor) need renovation, but the suite and the bathroom was clean and well maintained. We had a fridge that was supplied with some complementary water and sodas, and we also had a coffee-machine which was handy. The view from the room to the Empire State Building was stunning...
Checking was really easy, and we were given discount coupons in the restaurants in the neighbourhood. Next to the hotel there are small delis where you can also have a decent quick food. We also dined in the Tick Tock, once it was okay for the experience.
The room was quiet, and although the beds were a bit too small (not even queen size), for a few days the place was okay, as it is close to Macy's, Penn Station and many subway lines, the Empire State Building and the Times Square.
A good tourist hotel.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the upper floors.
