Everything about the Chelsea Pines Inn was perfect. The staff is the friendliest and most helpful I've ever encountered. I felt at ease and welcomed as soon as I walked in the door. The room was immaculate and spacious. The location is ideal for exploring two of the most appealing areas of the city, Chelsea and West Village. The subway station on the corner meant easy access to the rest of Manhattan. I can't recommend the Chelsea Pines highly enough. I have found my go-to hotel for all future visits.

This is a gem. Well situated, good food and the staff are very friendly, helpful and professional. The rooms are small (this is New York!) but furnished with good taste and practically. No elevators, but the staff are more than willing to tote bags up the stairs. We'll be back as this is a great find and Jay runs a tight ship. well done!

Room Tip: choose a back facing room for a blissfully quiet night.

We fell in love with the Chelsea Pines. The staff were so helpful and their recommendations perfect. The room was clean and characterful. Breakfast to die for. Location was the best i have ever had in NYC - right by Greenwich Village.
We will go there next time we are in NYC if we can get a reservation and i would not hesitate to recommend it.

Fellow Tripadvisor travelers seldom get it wrong, and yet when a good thing gets so much praise it can seem just too good to be true. That's simply not the case at Chelsea Pines - it IS that good! Lots of NYC offerings may boast about their location, accommodations, convenience or comfort, but here is a real confluence of all of these things, plus more, and at a very reasonable rate.
Let it suffice to say that the rooms are sparkling clean and modern, New York efficient in layout and quiet enough for a sound night's sleep even on the street side, we found. Our first stay in Chelsea, right on the north border of the Village, was a revelation to another side of Manhattan we wanted to experience, and we loved it! The 8th Ave. subway is right there - the neighborhood itself has so much to offer; the Chelsea Market, varied restaurants, the views from the High Line - all easy walks. The continental breakfast is just perfect.
What makes Chelsea Pines Inn really special is the people there. To a man, we always felt comfortable and coddled by the sincere friendliness and helpfulness of the owner, employees and other guests we encountered - nice attracts nice. Even the most introverted traveler (like me) will feel genuinely at ease in the company of these folks, who love their city and are glad you're there to experience it. We will be back.
Unhesitatingly recommended!

Room Tip: If you don't do the stair-stepper machine at the gym, ask for a room below the 4th floor...

My sister (21) and I (28) travelled to New York for a week over new years this year and stayed at the Chelsea Pines Inn. The hotel was fantastic as it was only a short walk to the Chelsea Markets and the Meatpacking District, seconds from the subway and there were so many restuarants just around the corner.

We would recommended this hotel to anyone and I have already told a number of friends travelling to New York this year that this is the place to stay. We had a room on the second floor (note, there are no elevators) but the room was well decorated, clean and it had a great shower and bathroom (large by NY standards). Best yet, the rooms were reasonably priced and included breakfast.

Jay and all the staff there were helpful and friendly and we were lucky enough to attend their final 25th anniversary celebration. It was great to have some good wine and amazing cheeses and meet some of the other guests staying at the hotel.

We would love to stay there next time we are in New York, which will hopefully be sooner rather than later.
