Our third visit in three years to the Chelsea Pines Inn proved to be as great as our previous. A caring and kind staff, very nice rooms that are kept spotlessly clean.
Excellent location too - on the border between Midtown and the far more charming Downtown, with Greenwich Village, Soho and Lower East Side. Subway around the corner.
If you care to walk, Hudson River Park is 10 minutes away, with walkway along all of the west side of Manhattan.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms do not have the best location, since they are close to the breakfast area and have a limited view from the windows.

After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to give Chelsea Pines Inn a try. On previous trips we stayed in theTimes Square area & wanted a new experience. We are so happy we did!! We can't say anything more than superlatives to describe our stay with Jay & his staff! From the moment we checked in until the morning we left, they were always available to answer our questions & give suggestions for places to visit & restaurants to dine. It's a small boutique establishment & there are no elevators which could be an issue for some but there are ground floor rooms that are available. We were on the 3rd floor & loved it. We don't mind climbing a few stairs - good exercise after some of the meals we had . The rooms are decorated with old movie posters - I think we were in Doris Day's - very comfortable room with high ceilings and a compact but functional bathroom. The daily breakfast was wonderful - definitely not your run of the mill continental breakfast - pastries, bagels, fresh fruit, yogurt, espresso & more.
Location is amazing! Very close to Chelsea Market and the Highline with the subway steps away from the hotel entrance. Walking distance to many of the areas adjacent to Chelsea district - we sctuall walked to the north to Times Square then south the next day to the 9/11 Memorial.

.Jay (the owner) is always available if you have a question or need a suggestion - he steered us to a wonderful restaurant in the theatre district on the night we attended a broadway show.

The only glitch we had during our stay was having our room serviced. The housekeeping schedule extends through the late afternoon so if you know you'll be out during the morning, you may want to let the front desk know. Wifi is free and they have a computer & printer available if you need to print boarding passes or tickets.

Bottom line - we would definitely stay here again and highly recommend the Inn to anyone who asks! Thanks Jay for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: We loved our room facing the courtyard at the back the the property, very quiet at night.

This hotel is rated very high for good reason - it is simply awesome. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by the owner Jay and the manager Troy. We were instantly made to feel like we were staying at the home of a friend. The decor is quaint and lovely, the staff are wonderfully amazing and there are tons of perks. First the decor -- a magnificent and tasteful tribute to old Hollywood with a remarkable collection of vintage film posters and photos of classic movie stars. The rooms were each unique and homey. More importantly - they were super clean. From the linens to the bathrooms, everything was pristine. Now the staff - we would be remiss if we didn't give a shout out to each and everyone we encountered but there are a few that deserve special mention... of course Jay and Troy for making us feel so welcome from the start and creating a perfect experience through outstanding attention to every detail. Anna for being so accommodating when we were making our initial booking and finding a way for us to have a room for the entire duration of our stay - even though we had to change rooms, the staff made the transition virtually seamless and stress free. Anna's warm smile and keen interest in our adventures was the perfect way to end a long day of touring. Rumel is super conscientious, helpful and sincere - he could write the book on delivering exceptional customer service. All and all - everyone we encountered was friendly, accommodating and contributed to an overall extraordinary experience. Lastly, the perks, a yummy free breakfast every morning which includes Jays Bread of the Day - super fresh and tasty, all served in a lovely breakfast nook. The "Chelsea Morning" delivered under our door each morning featured restaurant reviews, recommended activities, tips, history lessons and "did you knows". We looked forward to it each morning. Some other valuable extras to note include free wifi, a subway stop just steps up the street and a great safe location with many restaurants, pubs, shops and Chelsea Market in close proximity. This hotel is a gem and we will undoubtedly be staying here the next time we are in NY.

Room Tip: This hotel is a walk-up so no elevators. If you have trouble climbing stairs, try and book a room on the first or second floor. The climb to the fifth floor is a hike but well worth it if you don't mind a bit of exercise.

What a fantastic hotel. From the minute we arrived and were warmly greeted by Anna, the lovely vase of roses in our room and the courtesy of Troy who chatted to us as we waited for our car to the airport we were treated liked Royalty. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast staff worked non-stop replenishing the fresh fruit, home baked bread, bagels, and everything that went to make the amazing breakfasts. Our room, Donna Reed 406, was extremely comfortable and super clean, as was the bathroom. The location is great - literally two minutes from the subway and five minutes from Highline Park, Chelsea Market and Greenwich Village. It was great coming back from the frantic activity uptown to our peaceful oasis and wandering round the Village in the evening. There are restaurants to suit every taste and budget. For a special treat try Spice Market mmmmm mmmmmm. Thanks every one of you for working so hard to make our holiday extra special.

Room Tip: Room 406 has a lovely view of the garden and breakfast patio

It was our first trip to New York and the wonderful Chelsea Pines Inn made it unforgettable. The thing that makes this place so special is that Jay and his staff are truly passionate about the city and want to make sure that everyone who visits thoroughly enjoys the whole NY experience. They helped us to discover great restaurants and see a fantastic show in our five days there. They're genuinely interested in where you've been and what you've done each day so they can help, and suggest ideas that might enhance your stay. The hotel is bijou with really nice touches: the stars-themed rooms, the all-day coffee and tea, the generously stretched (till 11.30) breakfast. If you're new to the city as well, this is a fabulous location, just a short walk from the High Line, Greenwich Village and three subway lines, it's a hub in the most picturesque part of the city. The warm, hand-written note we received from Jay on the last day was a fantastic example of the attention to detail and personal touch you'll find at this Chelsea gem. As if you haven't guessed by now...thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter.
