Having read several glowing reviews about this hotel, we did wonder if the reality would live up to the expectation. OMG it definitely did!
From the minute that we arrived, we were made to feel really welcome. Our room (the Lesley Carron suite) was gorgeous, the bed extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were fantastic - I don't think I ate lunch for a week!
Jay and the team couldn't have been more helpful - giving us details about the area (which we really loved), using the Subway (felt like a native after a few days) and the best shops, bars and restaurants (which we made very good use of!)
Our room was kept spotless and the little gifts to celebrate our anniversary were really thoughtful - as were the farewell mugs which we use most days now that we are home.
We would recommend this hotel (and already have) to anyone and will definitely be back!
Thanks to Jay and his wonderful team and Jason - remember, Brooklyn Bridge in 2014!

Room Tip: Stairs are steep and there is no elevator so not for the faint hearted. Helped to work off the break...

Great staff, comfortable quiet room, perfect location near the Village, Chelsea Market, subways and more. It was pricier than other NYC hotels, but truly a pleasant oasis in the city. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Book early to get a lower-floor room. There is no elevator.

Ditto to all the positive reviews. My wife and I stayed at the hotel for four nights in February, 2014. We loved it. We started our with a room on the 5th floor but found the climb difficult (no elevator) so from the second night they moved us to the first floor. They take care of the luggage though, no matter what floor you are on. We couldn't recommend the place more for the friendly and helpful hotel staff, the owner who obviously takes pride in the inn, really as a work of art reflective of his mission, for the space and room decoration and designs (they make incredibly good use of limited space), and for the breakfast. So many hotels are stingy or over-priced when it comes to breakfast. Here breakfast is included and coffee (including expresso) and bakery items are available gratis most of the day and night. The wi-fi worked fine in the rooms and the business center was well-designed and convenient. The inn is generous and helpful in all respects. We love New York and like to stay at different places but this is one we will definitely return to if we can get a lower floor room. I found the bed a bit on the hard side, though my wife was fine with it, and, yes, the digital TVs are not the latest generation, but when it comes to what is most important for us, the Chelsea Pines Inn has it all. We really enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: If you are elderly or have a difficulty with stairs, first floor rooms are also available.

This was our 4th stay at CPI and our 3rd time as part of our anniversary celebration in NYC. We were very happy with the accommodations, as always. The room was comfortable and well-equipped. We don't mind the stairs - it helps to keep our weight in check after the sumptuous meals we enjoy in the city. The staff is fantastic - helpful, accommodating, friendly, funny - a big part of the special experience at the inn. The location is perfect to our thinking - about 2 blocks from the Highline, a block from the Chelsea Market, half a block to uptown and cross town subway line, an easy walk to the Village - a great situation. It is not the Hilton, thank God. We return in March and wouldn't stay anywhere else!

Stayed here for a week in February and it was great.

The staff are really helpful and friendly, giving some great advice on what to see and do. Location is good just by the High Line park, Chelsea market and easy access to the subway. Real neighbourhood feeling to the area and some great options for eating out.

Rooms are comfortable, fresh and clean. The breakfast was tasty and always had some interesting pastries to try.

Will definitely be staying there again next time I'm in New York.

Great location, friendly staff. My first, but certainly not my last visit to Chelsea Pines. Traveling solo, I stayed in the smallest room they offer. It was fine for me, but would be a bit too cozy for a couple. Love this place. Highly recommended!

We just returned from our second stay at Chelsea Pines Inn. It has everything to make you feel welcome and comfortable in the Big City: great location and access to the subway; close to the High Line; wonderful neighborhood with good restaurants and shops at the edge of Chelsea and the West Village; comfortable and spotless rooms; great value; good inside info on food and entertainment options; excellent breakfast and snacks. Most of all, it's fun to stay there because all the staff are genuinely friendly, funny, helpful and welcoming. When we departed for the airport in a snowstorm, they even held a room for us in case we didn't get out. It's our home away from home in New York!
