“'We'll be back'”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

We stayed here for seven nights celebrating our birthdays in NYC & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is fantastic, only yards from the subway & a few minutes walk from the High Line, Chelsea Market, & the shops & restaurants of Greenwich Village. The rooms are clean & comfortable, continental breakfasts are delicious & the dining & garden areas are delightful. What really made our stay was the hospitality of the staff. They were welcoming, friendly & helpful, recommending sights & restaurants & always keen to know how we had enjoyed our day. Thanks to them we rode the subway & never got lost. Jay said 'this is your home for a week' & it really felt like it. Finally, love to Charlie the cat who became my very best friend.

Room Tip: There is no elevator so choose a room on the lower floors if you have any mobility problems.

I visited with my family NYC recently and stayed 3 nights at Chelsea Pines Inn. We received a warm welcome and excellent service on our arrival. Our rooms were very well but unfortunately the bed was not too comfortable. When we pointed this out, the staff was very sorry and changed the mattress room service is good.

Stayed here for four nights with my husband in May 2014 - my first visit to NY. Are you looking for a small, charming hotel with a high level of service, care for the details, heart-warming engagement in your travel plans and well-being - you can stop hunting, this is your place. I had read a number of reviews at TA and was still not prepared for the welcoming reception, it was like coming home to your good friends.
We stayed at a fairly good size double with high ceiling (3rd floor). I had heard hotel rooms in NY are very small so even this was a positive surprise. Bathroom was small but freshly renovated, and the nicely movie theme decorated room was perfectly cleaned every day. Flat screen TV with lots of channels, free wi-fi, flat iron, small refrigerator, air condition, fresh towels every day if you want. Just perfect even for a longer stay.
Breakfast, served in the homelike kitchen, was excellent, we really didn't miss a thing. We had our breakfast in the cozy backside garden with a profusion of flowers, yet another surprise. Very good espresso coffee - wich by the way was freely accessible all day long until late evening, together with cold mint water or ice tea, and something small to eat on the kitchen bench for you to serve yourself.
Access to Business Center with a couple of computers and printing possibilities available 24/7, just perfect.
The location is absolutely superb, all the uptown-downtown subway lines has a station at 14th St - the closest station only like one minut from the hotel - which makes exploring the city so much easier. (Subway btw is the best, 31 USD for a weekly travel card and the fastest possible way to get from A to B). The neighbourhood just in between Chelsea and Greenwich Village must be the most charming one in NY; residential area with lots of restaurants and clubs, shopping and amazing atmosphere so you will find lots of things to do, see and entertain yourself by just taking a walk.
Thanks Troy, Rumel and the team for making our stay in NY even more memorable. We will not even consider staying at another hotel next time we get a chance to visit this amazing city and will warmly recommend Chelsea Pines Inn to all our friends.

Room Tip: 2nd and 3rd floor seems to have very high ceilings. Room "Doris Day" ón 3rd floor was perf...

Me and my family visited NYC in the end of May and stayed 5 nights at Chelsea Pines Inn. We received a warm welcome and excellent service on our arrival (thanks Ramal!). Our rooms were of good size but unfortunately the bed was not too comfortable. When we pointed this out, the staff was very sorry and changed the mattress without hesitation and put a vase with a bouquet of gorgeous white roses in our room as apology.
The expanded continental breakfast was great and it was lovely to be able to sit out in the small but very pretty garden in the backyard.
The complimentary coffee/tea/ice tea and delicious cakes and cookies which were available all day was very appreciated.
The location is great, nearby the metro, restaurants and shopping.
Although it is not the cheapest of hotels in NYC I can really recommend this place!

This was a special 25th anniversary trip to New York City for us, our third time to NYC in our past 25 years together, and the first time we'd ever stayed here. We located it serendipitously through trip finder and read the reviews. After we booked, we found out from other friends who'd stayed here previously how much they liked it, and we loved it too! We savored the wonderful hospitality and kindness of Jay and all of the staff. Nazifa was wonderful at check-in and told us about the Highline, which became an every-morning destination each of the four days we stayed; it provided serenity, self renewal, and respite in the big city, as well as a vantage point to beautiful sculpture, architecture, the river, and some of New York's other major landmarks. Charflie Chaplin, the Chelsea Pines mascot, was such a sweetie! The delicious continental breakfasts offered nutritious, high quality options for everybody, which we especially appreciated as vegetarians. We didn't mind the walk up to our lovely room on the fifth floor at all, as it's replete with New York architectural history, and it was quiet and comfortable. We can't wait to go back again!

If you're looking for a nice hotel in the lower west side of Manhattan, give this property a try. It's a five story walk-up hotel (no elevators) with one of the finest continental breakfasts I've had in many years. Charlie the cat has been employed at the hotel for 16 years; nobody has been there longer than him. Our room was on the fifth floor which (for the first few days) was a bit of an effort, but we were in much better shape by the time we checked out.
The front desk staff are all amazing and very willing to help with whatever you need assistance with. Since there were four of us that need a ride to Laguardia in the morning, they even arranged for a van from the cab company to pick us up.

Room Tip: Since there is no elevator, if you have trouble with stairs then I suggest a floor on the lower leve...
