The people who works here are very friendly and helpful.
There is a resident cat named "charlie chaplin"- very sweet, he made the place feel like a home :)
The hotel is located right by a major subway (and across from an AWESOME pizza spot)
The West Village is a close walk and has amazing food/night life.
Continental breakfast every morning was AWESOME- a great way to start the day in a healthy way-yummy yogurt!
Overall, a great value!

I suggest this guest house both for the location in NY (the best one for the night life, shopping, walking in the nice streets and near to the subway) than for the hospitality (the staff is very kind, you can eat and drink free averytime you need and there is internet free).

We stayed a week at Chelsea Pines Inn beginning of January. Some friends recommended the place and we can only confirm that we made a good choice. The location in Chelsea is great, close to Meat Packing District, Greenwich village,SOHO both Uptown & Downtown as well as East Village & Lower East Side can be reached easily by subway and/or bus (subway is just 1/2 block away). There are a lot of interesting restaurants & bars nearby especially if you don't want to move much in the evening.
At Chelsea Pines Inn, we had booked a standard room and requested a room to the backyard as 14th Street is very noisy during day & night. Compared to other NY hotels (even at a higher price) our room was relatively spacious, tiny bathroom but comfortable shower cabin, bath towels (3 by person) are of high quality, bed was very comfortable and they change bedlinnen every 3 days.
The staff is extremely helpful & friendly and we were not disappointed by their tips for restaurants nearby. Continental breakfast is included in the rate and of acceptable quality, coffee/tea & cookies are available and free of charge all day.
The only thing that should improve is the cleanliness of the room. While it was almost perfect at our arrival, the bathroom hasn't been cleaned every day or even not at all. Perhaps it was just a coincidence as I couldn't find any similar remarks in the last reviews...
We can only hope that the place will stay like it is and that the staff doesn't change. We will certainly recommend the hotel to all our friends.

My husband and I, along with our adult daughter, stayed at Chelsea Pines for a week during the Christmas holiday. What a treat! No, there are no elevators but walking up stairs is good for most of us! The staff is very attentive and helpful. They made our stay very special - great recommendations for eating - great directions to wherever we wanted to go - little sweet treats available every day. This Inn is also in a wonderful location - a subway 1/2 block away. We felt special and so will you.

I stayed at the Chelsea Pines for one night in December, 2009. The staff couldn't be more helpful and professional. There was a problem with the toilet in my room and I was immediately upgraded to a bigger room. No fuss, the staff just took care of it. Nothing was too much trouble. Xavier, who worked behind reception, was outstanding in his customer service. He was very friendly and made me feel welcome from the first moment I arrived. The hotel itself is very close to a lot of bars and restaurants. I walked to most places. It's also near the Apple Store in NYC! It's close to the subway (A,C,E lines. Get off at 14th street to get to the hotel). I will definitely be staying here again in the future. You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

Jay and the super friendly staff were not short of helpful suggestions for food/shopping/sightseeing that made it a pleasure to stay at the Chelsea Pines- really added to the holiday experience in NYC. Convenient location for us meant it was only walking distance to areas we spent most of out time, i.e. Chelsea/Villages.
Not only for a gay couple like us enjoying a week getaway in NYC- was a mixed group of guests. Stayed in the Mitzi Gaynor room with window out to the back yard so was nice and quiet. Will definitely be back to try one of the other rooms or suites :)

The rooms are tight but exceptional for the price! Close to Greenwich Village, no parking but there is a reasonable gargage just down a bit.
