The Chelsea Pines Inn was recommended to me by a friend and I'm glad I took notice. Staying at the Inn felt like living in our own apartment in one of the hippest parts of town. We were a hop, skip and a jump away from the west and east village and the best restaurants - Pastis (featured in Sex in the City) was literally a minutes walk. The staff were absolutely amazing and gave us the best advice the way only locals can! They booked all of our theatre tickets and got us great discounts and we found that nothing was ever too much trouble. Two computers were available to use with free internet access and we could print for free! The rooms were themed with pictures from old Hollywood films (ours was Paul Newman) and were really comfortable. Every day we got an information flyer under our door about great free things to see and do in NYC and we soon learned to look forward to this each morning. If you want a truly authentic New York City experience with exceptional customer service then this is the place for you.

The person who booked us was extremely pleasant and considerate as we were visiting our daughter in the village for her birthday. Chelsea Pines was modern with a throwback flair to the silver screen, which I looked forward to. The bath facility was spacious with glass tile from the shower visible from the bedroom, which gave off a pretty glow from the bedroom....very clean and immaculate with all the amenities. Spacious enough and very tastefully decorated. Although we had to leave before breakfast they were kind enough to offer us bagels to go. Will go there again on our next visit.

I enjoyed staying here (The Debbie Reynolds suite), it was good value for money considering all the hotels in NYC is so expensive.

People were friendly, rooms were clean and comfortable, and great location, close to the metro. Breakfast very basic, but you get what you pay for.

I shall return.

We chose to stay here after reading all the glowing reviews and because of its location. The big problem I have with this place was the size and decor of the room. We did grab the last room for Halloween, so it may be the smallest, but it was TINY. And as someone else noted, it had all the charm of a Days Inn. Also, as someone else noted, the service varied depending on who was manning the front desk. The owners were great, but I can't say the same about the rest of the staff. Also, for the size of the room and the decor, I don't feel it was really worth the price. Having said all that, it is very well located, near subway, etc. but I just don't feel it was worth the price.

The people who works here are very friendly and helpful.
There is a resident cat named "charlie chaplin"- very sweet, he made the place feel like a home :)
The hotel is located right by a major subway (and across from an AWESOME pizza spot)
The West Village is a close walk and has amazing food/night life.
Continental breakfast every morning was AWESOME- a great way to start the day in a healthy way-yummy yogurt!
Overall, a great value!

I suggest this guest house both for the location in NY (the best one for the night life, shopping, walking in the nice streets and near to the subway) than for the hospitality (the staff is very kind, you can eat and drink free averytime you need and there is internet free).

We stayed a week at Chelsea Pines Inn beginning of January. Some friends recommended the place and we can only confirm that we made a good choice. The location in Chelsea is great, close to Meat Packing District, Greenwich village,SOHO both Uptown & Downtown as well as East Village & Lower East Side can be reached easily by subway and/or bus (subway is just 1/2 block away). There are a lot of interesting restaurants & bars nearby especially if you don't want to move much in the evening.
At Chelsea Pines Inn, we had booked a standard room and requested a room to the backyard as 14th Street is very noisy during day & night. Compared to other NY hotels (even at a higher price) our room was relatively spacious, tiny bathroom but comfortable shower cabin, bath towels (3 by person) are of high quality, bed was very comfortable and they change bedlinnen every 3 days.
The staff is extremely helpful & friendly and we were not disappointed by their tips for restaurants nearby. Continental breakfast is included in the rate and of acceptable quality, coffee/tea & cookies are available and free of charge all day.
The only thing that should improve is the cleanliness of the room. While it was almost perfect at our arrival, the bathroom hasn't been cleaned every day or even not at all. Perhaps it was just a coincidence as I couldn't find any similar remarks in the last reviews...
We can only hope that the place will stay like it is and that the staff doesn't change. We will certainly recommend the hotel to all our friends.
