“Lovely service, better than any 5 star hotel”
Reviewed 20 May 2010

When I arrived at Chelsea Pines I was greeted so warmly! Jay and his staff are better than the 5 star hotel I slept in the night before. Although they might night have 800 thread count sheets, I had free wifi, an open kitchen downstairs, my own clean bathroom and windows that open to the street. And at half the cost! Will stay there again.

My business partner and I arrived at the Chelsea Pines Inn at 3 am after a very long drive from Baltimore. Needless to say we were exhausted! We were welcomed with open arms, a sense of humor and impecable service even at 3 in the morning.
Every room has a Hollywood star over the door with a movie stars name on it. Our room was the Debbie Reynolds room and it couldn't have been more comfortable. Debbie, you should visit your room, you will enjoy it!

The rooms are decorated in a funky yet comfortable style. The continental breakfast was very yummy (loved the lemon poppysed cake) and the coffee was superb! The location is central to anywhere you want to go especially the Chelsea Market which is right around the corner from the Inn. Mostly, the owner, Jay Lesiger was a joy to talk with as well as his staff. We reccomend the Chelsea Pines Inn to anyone visiting New York!
Sincerely,
Colleen Gallagher and Karen McElaney

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Chelsea Pines Inn. The location is perfect, and the breakfast is very good. We hope to return some time in the future.

I have stayed in CPI many times over the past 15 years and always found it quirky, friendly and good value for money; recent improvements to the reception area and rooms have brought the hotel into 21st Century without losing the personal and individual nature of the ambience
Similarly the clientel now seems to be more varied - I seem to remember in 1997 that it was( virtually) exclusively gay-male but the relaxed atmosphere and the (retained) movie-star themed rooms ensure that everyone wanting more than an impersonal barn with a huge chandelier in the lobby will feel at home !!
The emergence of the MeatPackers Area and the High Line gardens have kept the hotel's location well placed

This was our 2nd stay at the Chelsea Pines. Great location, in walking distance from all attractions. Jay, the owner, has gathered a team that really knows how to provide great hospitality. These guys really know the city and will gladly help you find the best attractions. The rooms are comfortable and we enjoy having breakfast at the inn before we head out to enjoy the city. If you are looking for a friendly place at a great price, Chelsea Pines is the place to stay in NYC.

My wife and I spent one night in the "Tony Curtis" room on the third floor. Parking was a breeze next door. We had a nice welcome by the gentleman at the desk who upgraded us to a larger room without us asking. The room had nice movie posters on the wall, high ceilings and a large window facing a rear courtyard. The room was clean, well appointed and well lit. We heard no noise at all during the night which is a real plus in the city. The air conditioning was very powerful. There are only 40 or so channels on the TV but who wants to spend a lot of time inside? There was a computer and printer available for guest use at no charge which was a great feature. The morning breakfast was self serve in the kitchen and there was plenty to choose from. There are two minor things that I would prefer to see change. One, the toilet was a standard 15" height with a round seat. I prefer a taller ADA compliant 17" toilet with an elongated bowl. My bad knees, so my preference. Two, the steel bed frame had a sharp exposed angle that I bumped into during the night and opened a cut on my lower leg. I would find a way to pad that. Minor things like I said. Overall this is a great place to stay in New York City I we look forward to returning. Jim and Lisa

Fabulous place! It is a great location, a block from Chelsea Market and the High Line and 1/2 a block from a subway station. You could not ask for a better location. The hotel is a quaint place which you just don't always find in Manhattan. Be aware that there is no elevator which is definitely not a deal breaker, but something to consider after all the walking you do in New York. The staff is friendly and helpful; helping us figure out how to navigate the subways and offered some wonderful dining recommendations close to the hotel. We tried several and they were spot on. We cannot wait to come back to New York and this is where we will be staying.
