My wife and I stayed at the Chelsea Pines for 9 nights just before xmas last year. The experience was brilliant from start to finish, and we can't recommend it enough.

The location is magic. There is a subway right outside, but there are so many brilliant spots within walking distance too that you won't always need it. All of the staff are helpful and friendly, and genuinely want to make sure you have a great time in NY. All of their recommendations were great, from food to nightlife to activities. The rooms are always spotless and have a welcoming feel about them - NY is a brilliant city and you can literally lose track of time exploring - but it was great to know we had somewhere comfortable and friendly to come home to.

Would happily stay here again!

fab location, friendly staff, beautifully clean rooms and very good value. visited with 3 friends for a NYC reunion & shopfest. quirky rooms with hollywood themes, not huge but bigger than the Hudson!. generous extras such as free wifi, printers & computer access, cookies & drinks available all day and breakfast until 10am. charlie the cat likes cuddles! Valentine cookies delivered to all the rooms on the day was cute and appreciated. daily newsletters tell you about the area and things to do. would definitely stay again. location was perfect for us - close to all the best independent shops, thrift stores, chelsea market and some great bars and restaurants. we enjoyed a great lunch at the Standard Grill. taxis uptown cost around $12 - same as the subway.

Had a wonderful 6 day stay in New York staying at the Chelsea Pines Inn in January. Decided to stay here after reading the favourable reviews on this site.
Location is great loads of great bars and restaurants in the meatpacking district and greenwich village which is a nice contrast to the hustle and bustle of times square. Also only 2 mins walk to nearest subway.
We stayed in the Ann Margaret standard room on the 3rd floor which was a reasonable size (from what ive read elsewhere rooms in NYC are generally on the smaller size). Room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the garden and was nice and quie. Nicely decorated and good quality bedding.
Had breakfast each day in the kitchen diner on the groundfloor, coffee, bagels, doughnuts and home made bread set us up for the days exploring.
What really set this hotel apart from others i've stayed in was the staff who were genuinely friendly and had some great recomendations. Bills Burger across the road was the best burger we had on our visit. Also thanks for the Brooklyn Bowl recomendation which is a great bowling alley in Brooklyn which also has a stage with live music. On the night we went there was a huge salsa band doing covers of arcarde fire and yeah yeah yeahs songs which was brilliant.
Will definetly be returning to the Chelsea Pines Inn on our next trip to NYC.

I was very impressed with the location - right in the heart of Chelsea. The owner and staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The owner took the time to personally recommend a list of great restaurants and ideas for activities. The personal attention was a great touch. Also, the ambience was one of kind, whimsical and welcoming!

Chelsea Pines is a perfect place to stay in NYC. Centrally located within the city, walking distance to so many trendy neighborhoods. The staff works as a family, and every time you come or go, you simply fee at home there. Jay (the owner) welcomes every guest with such open arms, and every staff member goes above and beyond for your individual needs. The prices are excellent, and the love at Chelsea Pines is priceless.
