Recently staid for business. The hotel was good in every respect, with spacious and tasteful rooms, great services, a perfect location (in the immediate vicinity of the Rockefeller centre and of 5th avenue more generally) and a somewhat "old school" feel.
Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely beautiful and comfortable hotel. The former Helmsley Palace is regal, elegant and plush. Great location close to St. Patrick's Cathedral. The room is spacious, surprisingly so for NYC. 5 stars.

Had an amazing stay at this grand, centrally located midtown Manhattan hotel. The view from the window..... looking down on St. Patricks was absolutely breath taking. Having newly renovated the hotel everything is clean and everything is in great condition. Fluffy pillows and a comfy bed felt very luxious. The staff are very helpful and make you feel very special and are always happy to assist.

The New York Palace definitely gives a unique very "New York" Experience. Their in-house cafe Pomme Palais has one of the best french toasts that I have ever tasted!

Villard Michel Richard restaurant also offers an amazing culinary experience.

This hotel defintely gets a thumbs up for giving their guests the full 5 Star experience and I would recomend this as my number 1 choice in New York.

It was a business trip to NY and New York Palace counted for a big part of the pleasure of the trip. Didn't have the time to use all facilities but enjoyed the luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere of the place. Great location, museums, Grand Central Station and all the sights at walking distance. Heavenly comfortable mattresses, great quality soaps and shampoo, super fluffy towels and many kinds of freshly made breakfast to choose from and start your business day. If you are a smoker, it is a pain to run down 20 floors every time you want to have a smoke, but the front yard is very hospitable in the morning and beautiful all lit up at night...

Room Tip: Ask for a room around 17th-20th floor with a view at St Patrick's Cathedral. Magnificent view to...

I stayed in this hotel in March 2013 for my 21st birthday and it was by far the nicest hotel i have ever stayed in, which added to our magical experience in new York!!! The rooms are huge and so clean, the hotel in general is very upper class! The staff were very friendly and polite, and the hotel is very central to the main attractions in New York, with central park being a 15 minute walk, times square and empire state being a 10 minute walk, and rockerfeller centre was right on the doorstep of this hotel! Would definitely recommend to others and come back to visit myself in the future :) the hotel also left me a card and chocolates in my room upon arrival as it was my 21st!

Had a terrific stay at this grand, centrally located midtown Manhattan hotel, right across Madison Avenue from St. Patrick's Cathedral. I hadn't heard much about it since it was The Helmsley Palace, but the room rate was very reasonable, the reviews looked quite decent, and a friend had had a good experience there recently. The lobby in really oppulent and old school, but inviting. The staff were efficient, friendly and professional. Room on the 38th floor was huge by NYC hotel room standards, clean, newly renovated, and looked right out (actually down) on St. Patricks. Great big, comfortable bed and big, clean bathroom. Trouble's Trust is a nice, cozy spot for a pre or post dinner drink. Not cheap, but typical NY hotel prices and excellent service and atmosphere. All in all, a great experience at the apty named New York Palace.

While we usually stay at the Waldorf, on our last trip the price for rooms was prohibitive and my husband discovered the Palace, formerly the Villard Mansion. It is quieter than the Waldorf (whose lobby can seem like Grand Central Station) and a beautiful property. I was immediately impressed with the person checking us when I complained about the charge for Wi Fi and he comped it for me "Only if you promise to stay with us next time you're in New York." That is the way to do customer service and he didn't need to okay it with a manager. The room was lovely, the location of the hotel is great- right across the street from St. Patricks Cathedral and a short walk from Radio City and 5th avenue. I had one of the best massages of my life at their spa, on a cold drizzly morning when we didn't want to brave the elements. We got a $100 credit for breakfast, which I thought there was no way we could spend it, until I saw the prices. This was my one complaint about the hotel, while the Villard restaurant was lovely, with a beautiful setting, nice china, delicious food and nice presentation, the hostesses could be rather short and brusque and the wait staff were not exactly helpful. I heard our waiter tell a fellow diner "I'll just put down you're having the American breakfast", even though that wasn't what she ordered and then heard her complaining when she got the bill. The waiters seemed to disappear after the food was served and on Sunday when we went, the hostess told us they had to seat people with reservations first, so it may be wise to make reservations (especially on Sunday). Other than that, it was a lovely stay and one night when we came back from dinner, they were decorating the lobby so we got to see all the Holiday decorations the next day, which were beautiful.
