This is a must while in NY. Right in the 5th avenue. Even if you are not Catholic, you will discover this gem of the architecture is a very interesting visit.
Althoug is not as big as Wien or Cologne's this Cathedral has its own unique charm. One of the best examples of gothic art outside Europe.
Please remind that is not a museum, some respect is requested for the tourists toward the people attending a religious service.

This is the only place I have entered in years that makes me feel like I am close to whatever God is. There is a serenity here that reaches in and touches my soul. I want to sit and mediate to really meld with whatever it is here that makes peace seem so possible. I wish I cold bottle this feeling.

Although it is being restored it is a fantastic building. We went to mass there and the service was great and everyone was so welcoming. Would have loved to see the outside but there was scaffolding everywhere. The inside is just as impressive though.

You will be amazed at the mix of people that visit for the archetectural glory, take a break to sit and relax, or just offer up a prayer that they are able to travel!! You will forget you are in New York City. Just enter from the front and take your own tour.

In the heart of 5th ave, St Patrick Cathedral is in a league of its own. The architecture, the windows makes it breathtaking. High ceiling and a rather spectacular Lady Guadalupe, which is one of the main attraction for most people. It's the most quiet serene place you can actually sit and pray. You can light a candle for prayers or fill your bottle with holy water. There are free scheduled guides and walk in guided tours. There's a small chapel inside the church, no cameras allowed, if you don't want to be disturbed in your prayers.
I've had a wnderful experience and it's a shame that I'm from the city and never even bother to visit more often.
