“More than Wonderful!”
Reviewed 23 September 2012

After a rather hectic journey to New York from Calgary (Tornado warnings in New York and an unplanned night in Toronto) it was wonderful to be greeted into such a home like atmosphere..any contact from front desk to housekeeping were on a positive note! Any little extras they could do were done. The room was pristine and oh so cozy...lovely beds and linens. The mini kitchen was appreciated in a big way..continental breakfast on the mezzanine is a huge plus before busy work days. Very central location in and around Hells Kitchen-close to Times Square- but very quiet rooms. I plan to be back soon! Thank you for a most wonderful 4 day stay Colin and John!

Nothing but praise for this hidden gem. Colin and John and all the staff made us very welcome, always ready to help, and advice especially with where to eat,as this great Hotel is in Restuarant Row. Only a short walk to Times Square,Theatre District it is "The place to stay" The rooms where well appointed with plenty of towels, and clean and comfortable.Continental breakfast is more than adequate each morning. Can certainly recommend this hotel,if we ever come back to New York, would certainly stay here again.

We have just returned from 4 nights at the French Quarters and would highly recommend the hotel for it's location, comfort, amenities and friendly, helpful service. We had a great room (301) with two double beds, a comfy armchair and footstool, the mini kitchen is a huge plus in a city, giving guests the opportunity to relax with a good cup of coffee or tea, and keep their own chilled drinks in the good-sized fridge, without being ripped off by the more usual hotel prices for even a bottle of water - in the past, we've actually been charged $8 for a small one, in a hotel charging $400 per night.....perhaps they can take a leaf from the French Quarters book? Our fridge came with two bottles of Evian plus two bottles of EON, a kind of energy drink.

The bathroom is excellent with L'Occitane toiletries, loads of fluffy white towels, good lighting, and - like the bedroom - is immaculately clean. The housekeeping staff are to be commended. The hairdryer was also great! Hotel dryers are often useless, meaning I have to take my own everywhere - in this hotel the dryer is powerful and has a cool button.

Location - if you want to be close to theatres, 5th Avenue, Broadway, Times Square, and dozens of individual restaurants, this is the place to be. 46th St W is tree-lined and the buildings are generally brownstones or adapted versions - no high-rises or soul-less chains.

Colin, the manager, is friendly and cheerful, saying hello and checking that we were having a good stay, each time we saw him. The other staff are friendly and helpful without the fake, obsequious manner of bigger, better-known hotels.

If there is a tiny suggestion for an improvement, it would be a lounge area for guests - the bar and restaurant are great (especially dinner on the wrought-iron balcony, on a sunny evening - lovely) but a few lounge-type chairs as somewhere quiet to sit, other than the bedroom, would be nice.

We would stay at The French Quarters again if we are lucky enough to return to New York and would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room as we were celebrating a big Wedding Anniversary and were concerned that l...

Excellent location on 46th and 8th., just two blocks from Times Square and smack on Restaurant Row .
The street has many international restaurants to choose from so you don't have to venture too far from your accommodation after a day of sight seeing. Very clean rooms, great friendly service and the Bourbon Grill bar offers good food and good prices for drinks also. Reception was always accommodating with all our requests. Bathroom excellent facilities, large shower, fluffly towesl, super clean. A coffee/tea maker in your room, fridge all the mod cons . Location can be busy although the building is very quiet and never had an issue sleeping . Great outdoor terrace for continental breakfast provided.

Room Tip: Frist 5 nights we had a ground floor room in the town house residence and then 2 nights we spent in...

This is a top of the lne boutique hotel. It is tastefully decorated. Rooms are a comfortable size with a variety of configurations depending on your party....ie double, double, king, suite etc. Continental breakfast is much more than a few pastries and coffee and can be enjoyed inside or on the lovely rooftop patio. All of the staff is friendly and helpful. Yes wi fi is complimentary as well as a bottle of water in the refridgerator. It is located between 8th and 9th avenues on 46th Street so walking to any theaters is easy and you are about 2 blocks from a subway station. Multiple places to eat are just a step outside the door. If you stay once, you will return as we plan to do.

Room Tip: The suites are the best if they would fit your needs.

Very nice place at walking distance of times square in a street full of pubs and cozy restaurants. very friendly staff . Room very well furnished, street can get loud at night but not to the point of losing sleep. All in all, a very nice place to try,

Room Tip: higher floors to escape the street noise

Double apartment set-up was perfect for us, with 3 kids the 2 bathrooms were a luxury. Stayed here twice during our US trip, by the end of a month the kids were balking at sharing a bed (we had a king, a double and a double sofa bed). When we asked for a roll out mattress the manager let us use a spare room at no charge. That's a third bathroom! Add this to the yummy breakfast, and it was quiet despite being so close to times square, at night we could just hear the jazz from across the street. It says on the website not for kids but it was perfect for us. Wouldn't even try anywhere else on our next visit.
