I decided to stay here after reading all the great reviews, and staying here last month the hotel didn't live up to the hype, especially for the price. Here are some pros and cons:

Pros:
-location to times sqr was pretty close
-clean, modern (but small) rooms. Rooms include full size fridge, microwave, all the utensils, plates, pots an etc that you may need.
-free breakfast (though not so great)
-happy hour (free beer and appetizers from 5-7p on tues-thurs) pretty awesome!

Cons:
-front desk staff was not friendly. The 3 times I went up to ask for something, the staff was chit chatting and wouldn't acknowledge me until a couple minutes after. I always felt like I was interrupting. Front staff is the first/last encounter with the hotel and they did not give me a great impression.
-concierge was not helpful at all and I took my map back and just figured it out myself.
-breakfast isn't that great. You get really sick of it, though they try to change it up everyday so that you won't. After 2 days we just went out for breakfast.
-elevators take forever

I'm all about customer service and they frankly didn't give it, which really disappointed me.

We stayed at this hotel for a week with our two teenagers. The room was very well equipped, the fridge and coffee maker were a great addition. Breakfast was excellent every day as were the drinks and snacks receptions mid-week. Free wifi was a huge bonus for teenagers wanting to access facebook without having to pay extra. Location is so close to Times Square and public transport yet far enough away to ensure a quite night's rest. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. A great hotel at a fair price.

Room Tip: higher floors have a great view

Mrs Mcneill,

Thank you so much for your review!

We consider the Staybridge Suites Times Square a family friendly hotel, which is why we are so glad you were able to spend some quality time with your family while visiting NYC!

We are thrilled to hear you enjoyed all of our amenities that we have to offer our guests complimentary. The two most popular amenities that we have are our all American breakfast buffet served daily Mon-Fri 6:30-10am and Sat-Sun 7-11am, and our social receptions Tues-Thurs from 5-7pm, including a changing menu of finger foods, wine, beer and sodas. These two features offer a special opportunity for our guests to not only socialize with other travelers, but enjoy a free meal, relax and escape the hustle and bustle of Manhattan. Every one of our rooms come equipped with a full kitchenette and brand new cable system!

Finally, we are glad that you found our location to be optimal for your travel needs. The location being in such close proximity to Times Square allows for our guests to enjoy everything our great city as to offer (especially with the subway less than a block away)!

We thank you again for your kind sentiments. We always appreciate our guests spreading positive feedback about our hotel, and would love for you to come stay with us again!

Warm Regards,
Staybridge Team

First of all, I saw a couple reviews about this hotel where the travelers complained about the fact that it is a) next to a parole office and b) right across from the port authority bus terminal, hence very noisy. First of all, the parole office is like half a block away, yes there are sketchy people out there but it's New York, there are sketchy people everywhere. Even the nicest areas of the city have their share of strange people. If you're uncomfortable, just cross the street when you walk out of the hotel instead of walking east down 40th street. And b), the bus terminal, yeah its noisy but again, this is New York. Stop being such a wimp, there isn't a place in the city that is not noisy. The rooms are huge for NYC, the staff are extremely friendly, the location is awesome, and the price is $150 less than any other hotel in that area of the same quality. I'm convinced that anyone who writes a negative review of this place is just impossible to please, period. On my next trip to NYC I will definitely be returning to Staybridge.

Hello and thank you for writing this fantastic review, we truly appreciate it!

We appreciate all the tips and tricks you’ve have provided for our prospective travelers.

The truth about our location is that it is nothing but positive. The Staybridge Suites Times Square is located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, just blocks from Times Square, and walking distance to the subway, as well as many other NYC attractions. Regarding the parole office, sketchy characters, or noise level, New York is always going to be New York, but in the 2+ years we’ve been open we haven’t had a single negative incident regarding our location, and hardly any noise complaints!

The rooms that we offer here are quite large as compared to the average NYC hotel room, and we offer a full kitchenette in every single one of them. We also consider ourselves ultra competitive when it comes to the pricing of our rooms. We put out what we think is more than fair for the cost of a beautiful hotel room in NYC, and the plethora of amenities that are included.

We are so glad that you enjoyed the service that our staff provided you, and hope that your review resonates with the other Tripadvisor reviewers and readers. We truly would love to have you back once again as our guest. Thank you.

Warm Regards,
Staybridge Team

We stayed here for two nights, and we were really pleases with the cleanliness and location of the hotel when we arrived there after 8 hours drive. The hotel was out of our budget but we decided to book it since we were gonna be in NYC for only to days and we wanted to be in the middle of the action, we were not disappointed.

Having the complimentary breakfast was a bonus and it helped us getting through the day, although the variety is basic but we were satisfied. As some others mentioned the elevators are really slow but i guess that comes with a tall and busy hotel. we stayed on the 28th floor and the room was quiet and we could almost here no sound from the street below.

TIP: if you are gonna drive park in the ICON parking lot about two blocks east and when you are checking out ask the front desk to stamp your parking receipt, you will get a big discount from the parking facility.

Hello and thank you for reviewing the Staybridge Suites Times Square Hotel!

We are very glad that you chose to stay with us, and even more pleased that you were able to relax and enjoy your stay after a long trip here.

We pride ourselves on being a very affordable hotel to stay at, considering our location is terrific for tourism as we are only two blocks away from Times Square and one block away from the subway. We truly are in the “middle of the action” as you put it, but just far enough away to avoid the crazy crowds that Times Square creates.

The breakfast buffet is amongst a favorite of our guests and is served every morning (M-F 6:30-10 S&S 7-11) for our guests to enjoy. In regards, to the elevator we do encourage our guests to come down earlier for breakfast to avoid the traffic that occurs during our peak breakfast times (7:30-10 on the weekday and 8-11 on the weekends). In addition, you can always request a lower floor room, so you can evade the elevator waits all together!

Another added bonus is our parking facility, it's located just two doors down from the hotel and offers a discounted rate of $28.00 per 24 hours. Which is a hard rate to beat for New York City standards!

We are truly happy that we were able to meet and exceed your expectations with our service, rooms, and amenities and would love for you to come back to NY and stay with us again.

Warm Regards,
Staybridge Team

This property is has all that you could ask for and more. The staff was very nice and accommodating and helpful. Room was big enough for the 4 people on our trip, but you don't stay here to spend time in your room. We needed to see the city and learn as much as possible within a week. It was a good rate for the location, about 7 blocks from Times Square and a few blocks from all the restaurants you could ever want in Hell's Kitchen. Within a block to the bus station and train station. The breakfast buffet in the morning was enough to get you through the morning and the evening happy hours offered during the week, free beer and wine and light food, were a nice little break from having to run around for a light snack before hitting the town for shows or shopping.

Room Tip: Upper floors provide less noise but when the hotel is full it can make for longer wait for the elevators.
