“The best hotel in the world.”

We came tired and exhausted after travelling 14 hours, the hotel staff was very accomodating and courtious. The bell boy Sunny was the most helpful . We had requested him earlier around the 6th of July to keep a spare bag in the hotel bell desk. Sunny in my opinion is an asset to any hotel enterprise and should be promoted and given a salary incentive.

We stayed here for two nights in mid July 2010 in a Queen Studio. Very impressed with the size of the room, full size fridge, big lcd tv and good size bathroom. Everything was immaculately clean.
The location is pretty average, midtown west side - there isn't a lot of things to see or good restaurants close by, except for Times Square, but this means it is a very hectic place.
We never went to the nighttime reception drinks but if they were anything like breakfast I am glad we didn't! Breakfast is 6.30-10 and one morning we went down at 8am and it was standing room only - people were literally eating their cereal from a bowl standing up as there is nowhere to sit and the place was overflowing. I'm sure the items on offer for breakfast were probably good - not that we could get near enough to get anything due to the volume of people so ended up grabbing muffins and fruit and going back to the room. Very stressful way to start the day.
The lifts are very slow and always full - we were on floor 7 (I think there are 32 or 34 floors) so often we had to wait for another lift to go down.
The business center is 2 computers that were always taken everytime we went past which was frustrating.
The gym is good but very small - 3 treadmills and 2 eliptical trainers which all get taken up quite quickly in the mornings.
Other than that it was a pleasant stay but probably wouldn't stay there again, at least not in summer when it is so busy.

We stayed at the Staybridge Suites from July 4th-9th, top floor and overall, fantastic stay! The hotel was very clean, the rooms are smaller than they appear on their website (but that was expected for a stay in NYC). The rooms come with a "kitchen" and they supply most utensils requires (pots, coffee mugs, dishwasher, spoons, etc). Unfortunately we weren't up early enough to enjoy the breakfasts but the evening "buffets" were good; free beer/ wine and little finger foods. The WiFi works perfectly if you're traveling with a laptop and there's a little desk area under the tv.
On the negative side, the water pressure was HORRIBLE, even brushing your teeth/ washing your face was a challenge (I'm not sure if this was due to the fact that the hotel was packed...). The coffee in the room was also disgusting, being a coffee drinker and all, it really wasn't up to par. You can walk up the block to Dean & Deluca or a little further to a Dunkin Doughnuts. If not, bring your own!!! The pillows aren't the greatest and the mattress quite soft. The maid service didn't "wipe down" the counter or desk, for wahtever reason. Also, there's only 3 elevators and, as other guests have mentioned, most times you're waiting between 5-7mins for one to arrive and make quite a few stops on your way down.
The price point is perfect, considering the area, and it's 2 blocks away from Times Square! The staff was very friendlly and courteous, especially Jamie and Sonny :)
Although other reviews have mentioned it being on a "shady" street (there's a parole "office" a few doors down), there are cops on just about every corner and, arriving most nights after 1am, we always felt safe.
If I was going back to Manhattan, I'd defintitely stay here again!

All I can say is this place was perfect. The only downfall was the block it is on is a bit shady but not in a way where I felt in danger in anyway.

Hotel was awesome because it is brand new. Staff was great.

Tuesday - Thursday they had open tap and appetizers for one hour. If you have ever been out in NY to drink (pretty much $8 per beer) you will know how nice it is to be able to enjoy a beer or wine for free.

Every morning they had a very decent breakfast available for free also.

Basically two blocks from times square.

Will say I got this hotel with a great deal. $159 per night for 6 nights and a 7th night was $259. They tried charging me $309 when leaving for those nights at $159 but did not argue a bit in fixing the cost. I got this deal via bing travel services and it was a last minute purchase. Day before I flew out. But for the price there is no way I could of got anything better in NY and I was 100% satisfied!

We stayed here for 3 nights over July 4th weekend. We were upgraded for free at check-in to a king bed suite. The room was fantastic, and definitely the nicest room I've stayed in while in Manhattan. I'm normally used to matchbox sized rooms, but this one felt huge. It had a kitchenette with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, and stove. The king bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was nice as well. There wasn't much room for toiletries on the side of the sink, but there are glass shelves in the bathroom where you could put your stuff. Large and clean is a tough combination to find in Manhattan, but this room was both.

The TV was an HD flat-panel and one of the biggest I've seen in a hotel room. There was also a long desk where you could do work if necessary (wi-fi was free and easy to connect to).

There is a free daily breakfast, and the breakfast room is modern and well-designed. The breakfast quality is nothing special, but there is a good amount of variety and at least you can save some money on dining.

The location of the hotel is the only reason I won't give it 5 stars. On the bright side, it's a convenient location. Times Square is about a 3 minute walk away, and you have easy access to get all over the city via the Port Authority station and the Times Square station. However, the specific street this hotel is on is definitely sketchy. I wouldn't call it unsafe, but it's shady. One night on our walk home, we walked right by a guy urinating on the sidewalk, with his junk hanging out right in front of us. Not exactly the sight you want to see. It's actually only the eastern half of the street which is shady, as there is an adult DVD store and a Parole Board building, and very little lighting. The western part of the street is bright and fine, where the Staybridge, Marriott, and Sheraton are side by side.
