We stayed here over a weekend in early October and overall enjoyed our stay!
We were very happy with where the hotel was located! It was easy to walk or take the subway to any of the attractions on Manhattan. I found no fault with its location, so you can mark that concern off you list.
As have been noted by other reviewers, the rooms are small, but make great use of space and are well appointed like the rest of the hotel. The rooms don't feel cramped, are very clean, the beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of room to store clothing. There is a wall air conditioner that seems to work very well, but then again, when we were there when it wasn't very warm. Expect some noise from the street below. Unfortunately, while we were there, the city decided to tear up the street next to the hotel for one entire night. The amount of noise pollution this created was comically ridiculous. The other nights were peaceful in comparison, but earplugs were necessary for a light sleeper such as myself.
The hotel staff were always courteous, greeting us as we came and went. They were happy to answer questions about the points of interest around the hotel including restaurant recommendations. At the end of the stay, they gladly helped make transportation arrangements for us back to the airport.
This hotel is a base to be used for sleeping, and it serves that basic purpose well. While it has a workout room with a small treadmill and some other very basic equipment, don't expect much. Also, please note that the morning 'breakfast' is a selection of pastries. I ate a croissant one morning, but ended up crossing the street to a great store/restaurant named Essen for something that would power me for a little longer. It had reasonable prices on high quality food items that you pick out buffet style. It works as a good substitute for the lacking 'breakfast' supplied by the hotel. If the hotel supplied some yogurt or cereal it would have been ok, but since they don't, plan on crossing the street and going to Essen.
I can easily recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a clean, comfortable room in an excellent location. Just bring earplugs (if you are a light sleeper) and don't count on the 'breakfast' they supply to actually fulfill that purpose. Have fun and enjoy your stay!
