“Great location, room was clean, good breakfast”
Reviewed 2 March 2011

My friend and I were meeting up for a weekend trip, and wanted a hotel within walking district of Times Square. The room was clean, and had every amenity we wanted (hair dryer, coffee maker, refrigerator). It was close to Times Square, and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go, even to Penn Station. The cost was reasonable.
The continental breakfast was plentiful and had a good variety.
The front desk answered our questions quickly and accurately when we called.
The maid service cleaned the room and restocked towels and supplies efficiently.
Everything was great - I would definitely stay here again.

I just returned from a wonderful 3 day trip to NYC and stayed at the Comfort Inn Theatre District for two nights. We arrived downtown around 10am and intended to leave our bags at the front counter for a later checkin. However, they had a room available for us and we were welcomed with a smile and quick service. The hotel is small and cozy with a small reception, free newspapers, and a breakfast area located on the ground floor looking out onto West 44th St which goes between 8th and 9th. The rooms are very well appointed complete with coffee maker, flat screen t.v. two phones, adequate lighting and marble countertops in the full bathroom. Sure the room is small compared to other cities but who's spending time in their room, when you've got Manhattan to explore?

The breakfast in the morning was busy but not crazy and came with hard boiled eggs, sausage, juice, croissants, small danishes, toast, cereal, yoghurt and fresh fruit and coffee is available 24/7. We had one breakfast in the hotel and the other was in a great diner at the corner of 44th and 9th. In fact there is some great ethnic and local eats all along 9th and you don't pay the prices that are charged on 42nd street and Times Square. If you want a great quick bite in a bar once frequented by John Lennon, go to Smith's at the corner of 44th and 8th. Yummy burgers with onion rings and blue cheese dressing and the beer is ice cold.

Location is great for this hotel and 44th is quiet enough that you get a great night sleep. You are two blocks from Times Square and all the trappings of 42nd street. Tour pickup spots are minutes away and the A,C and E trains (subway) entrance are right beside Smiths at the corner of W44th and 8th.

I did a lot of reading on this site regarding accomodation in NYC and found high marks for the Comfort Inn. It is relatively new and the staff are excellent. The room was clean and the location was fantastic. Believe the reviews this place is amazing for the price! Have fun!

My wife has always wanted to go to New York City to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade and we decided this was the year to go. I did a lot of research to find the best location and rates and this hotel looked like it would meet our needs. It is located in the theater district on 44th St, a little over a block and a half away from Times Square.
We took the train into New York from Buffalo and arrived in New York Penn Station. We took a cab to the hotel which I think came to about $12 with tip. The hotel itself I think is about five years old and looked small but nice on the outside. The lobby had a Computer for guest to use and an eating area where the complimentary breakfast is served. It was an easy check-in and we even were able to check in early.
Our room seemed a little small to me but my wife said it was actually a good sized room by New York City standards. I’m sure you could pay a lot more for a larger room somewhere else but we were not planning on spending much time in the room anyway. We had a comfortable queen size bed, an armoire and a desk and chair. The complimentary breakfast was good and there were a lot of choices. Everything was clean and in good shape. The bathroom was tight but not much smaller than a lot of places we’ve been to.
There are a lot of restaurants and theaters in the area. Looking out the window you can see the Majestic (Phantom), St. James (American Idiot), Helen Hayes, and a couple of other theaters that I don’t remember. There were also quite a few restaurants including Sardi’s, Juniors, and Bubba Gump’s in the blocks between the hotel and Times Square. When you get to Times Square there is much more and the Subway station is right there.

Tip: Something to keep in mind is that if you are going to stay in New York City during the holidays, especially Thanksgiving, the rates go up quite a bit during that time and the rooms get booked up very quickly. I started looking at rates in early spring and even as it got closer to May I saw the rates jump. So the earlier you can book your room the better.
TIP: We had heard that if you got out to the parade route early enough (6:00 am) you could stand in front of Macy’s during the parade. We wanted to go there because that is where they do all of the performances. We got out there around 4:30 or 5:00 and got as close to Macy’s as we could before they wouldn’t let us get any closer. This was about two blocks away. The police would not let us get any closer and told us we would have to walk around to the other side. After we did this we finally talked to an officer who told us about needing a special ticket. He said after the parade starts they would let other people fill in but we probably wouldn’t get much closer. So we kept walking back until we found a spot on the curb. What we found out is that unless you are a VIP, invited guest, or pay from $200.00 - $900.00 per person for a special ticket you can’t get anywhere near the front of Macy’s. So if you have your heart set on being right in front of Macy’s, don’t want to sit anywhere else along the route, and you don’t want to pay the price for the tickets, you’re probably better off watching the parade at home.

We stayed here for our first trip to NYC. It was in a fairly decent location (near theatres) and right around the corner from Times Square. It was a little noisy with the traffic outside, but its NYC! Restaurants were close and there were subway stations not far so getting around was easy. There was a continental breakfast, but I would skip it. There are plenty of street vendors in the area you can stop by on your way out.

I just came back from New York City last weekend after bringing 22 people to stay overnight. We arrived at 11:30am on a Saturday and this wonderful hotel was able to have our rooms ready so my dance team of 16 girls an chaperons were able to get ready for their very busy day. The service was superior, the staff kind and the continental breakfast the next morning was the best I have ever been offered. Yogurt, bagels, waffles, fruit, pastries, cereal, and more.
The location was amazing. We danced at Broadway Dance Center a block away and zipped up and down the subway to the Joyce Theater on 18th street from the stop at the corner just up the street from the hotel. Later that night we walked to Billy Elliott! I highly recommend this small hotel operated by a caring staff.

I stayed here for 4 nights in November 2010 with 5 of my friends, we chose this hotel as it was close to Times Square, and thought this might be a good base for exploring the City, we were right! A few minutes walk and we were in Times Square! We had no problems with check in, we got the (quite slow) lift to 7th floor and the rooms were clean, tidy and had everything you needed.

Breakfast was included, which was a bonus, there is a selection of cereal, with selection of eggs, bacon and sausages plus cakes, breads and croissants, lots of variety. The breakfast area was small, but we got there early so this was never a problem.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others, for the location, service and price, and I would certainly stay here again.

Booked 3 rooms in December 2010 for a girlfriend's getaway trip, and was pleasantly surprised. The price was excellent, rooms were quite comfortable, and the staff was pleasant. The breakfast each morning was quite good, with a variety of choices each day, and coffee was available in the lobby all day long. The bedding looked new, and the rooms were roomy by New York standards. The location was convenient. The only negative at all was the elevator. There is only one, and it is slow. Otherwise, everything was great.
