We saw very positive reviews on TripAdvisor and chose our hotel based on these reviews and we were not disappointed. Although the area does not have the "hustle and bustle" at night as other areas in Manhattan, its easy to get anywhere by subway or taxi and there ARE great areas down there (e.g., Stone St.).
