“Unpretentious yet sophisticated, great room and impeccable service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2011

We booked a double room (two double beds) for a week's holiday with two adults and two children aged 8 and 10. The room was a good size; bigger than your typical 4 star double room and therefore huge by Manhattan hotel standards.

Service at the hotel was absolutely great. We were checked in within minutes despite arriving at 10:00pm on a Saturday night. The lobby was a geniunely nice place to spend time, with free snacks and drinks and comfortable seating. The kids felt at home and relaxed and were treated courteously by the hotel staff.

Free wi-fi throughout the hotel worked like a charm, unlike other establishments where you have to pay for wi-fi and spend 20 minutes on the phone trying to get it working. Even minor issues were dealt with well, e.g. the first night there were only two sets of towels in the room, and I was expecting to have to call down and ask for more, but when we returned to the room the next day extra towels had been left without even having to ask.

We really liked the stylish but understated decor including black tiled bathroom, dark wood floor with a rug around the bed area. The Andaz has a 'boutique hotel' designer feel minus the 'look at us we're crazy' vibe you get in other hotels that are just trying too hard to be different.

The beds were firm yet comfortable, and the motorized blackout blind meant we were able to sleep well in to rush-hour (8:30am most days) without being disturbed. The bathroom was great - fantastic rainfall shower and none of the water leaking problems reported by other reviewers.

The room is generally very well thought out with simple 'scene setting' lighting controls for "work', "relaxaton" and "nightlight" plus plenty of spare power sockets - no crawling under tables to unplug lamps so you can charge your laptop/moble phone/Nintendo, etc. A huge flat screen TV and iPod dock rounded things off perfectly.

The only minor issue was a lack of storage space for clothing and luggage. It was more than adequate for an individual making a short business trip but not for a family of four staying for a week - perhaps unsurprising given the Wall Street location and the main demographic of the guests, although we did see a number of other families in the lobby during our stay.

The Wall Street location proved to be the ideal base with very little traffic noise making for good night's sleep. There is a wide selection of places to eat nearby, everything from delis through mid-priced family-friendly restaurants to upmarket venues.

With several subway lines are just around the corner from the hotel, we were able to get to the more conventional mid-town tourist locations quickly. You can be in the heart of Times Square in less than 20 minutes, and we often made a mid-afternoon trip back to the hotel for a break before heading out again.

Wall Street is close to many attractions; walking distance to the Statue of Liberty Ferry, Staten Island Ferry, South Street Seaport (with shoppiing, restaurants, old ships and views of Brooklyn and the bridget) plus several smaller museums. You could easily spend a couple of days in the local area doing tourist things without getting in a taxi or taking the subway.

All in all I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Andaz as a great place to stay for business or leisure, and we'll certainly be back the next time we visit New York. The kids rated it 10 out of 10.

We had never been to New York City for a full weekend stay and this hotel was perfect! Since it is located on Wall Street we didnt have to deal with the hustle and bustle of the city when we were trying to relax. When we wanted to go out site see we just hopped in a cab or the subway and we were there in no time. The hotel is very customer service forward and they make it easy to enjoy your stay. The rooms are outstanding! Great use of space in the rooms. The free cocktail hour from 6-8pm doesn't hurt either!

For my birthday I treated myself to a night at the Andaz. I wanted luxury amenities, but since I live and work in NYC I didn't want to be in crowded midtown. TripAdvisor really came through this time! My husband and I loved this hotel. From the free wine 6-8 in the lobby to the Bigelow toiletries and incredibly comfortable king-size bed, everything was great here. Super quiet, too. We didn't hear another guest, and except for a brief siren in the street, it was quieter than our own apartment. The price was very competitive, too. For a sleek and stylish stay, it was totally fabulous.

For our first anniversary, my wife and I decided to stay at the Andaz, based on the exceptional reviews we had seen on TripAdvsior. From location, to value, to the decor of the room, it surpassed our expectations.

The best part of the deal was right at the beginning; when speaking to the friendly staff member over complimentary snacks, we asked if he could provide us with any special offers, being such a special occasion for us. In response, he upgraded us for free to a really exquisite King-sized room which was really awesome!

From there, everything was exceptional.. We had a great time at the hotel and I knew I had to recommend this hotel to others who are especially interested in modern design and would like to stay in this quiet-yet-bustling area. There are many unique things about the Andaz and I really think it suits it's high ranking on this site, despite being so affordable.

Well done Andaz!

I travel to the Wall Street area once or twice a month on business, and prefer to stay here. The rooms are comfortable and everything is intuitively arranged - such as one button to switch all the lights off near the bed. Simple and perfect.

In NYC October 21 to 24 and chose the Andaz after a good stay at the Hyatt in Amman, Jordan. We left the NYC Andaz in a rush for a conference in Berlin and are forever indebted to the Andaz staff for express-mailing my husband's computer charger to our hotel in Berlin in time for his presentation, all arranged by a panicy, static-filled cell-telephone from the cab to the airport. Not only that but Kyle from the front door raced with me to the room to grab our bags while my husband got the car--a total save by compassionate staff. Also enjoyed the casual lobby and its Barista, who was informed about store hours, etc. I have been meaning to write a personal thank you to the woman who took our call, but have since lost her name. In NYC we heard one of Hyatt Hotel owners speak about his hotels' service--and his respect for Hyatt employees--and we suddenly became believers. Using the Hyatt Visa card in Europe was a plus--no FX charges--and we have just scheduled our 'two free nights' at another 5-star Hyatt for opening the card account, no blackouts. The NYC Andaz room was as others have described it--very modern, a glass wall to the bath, mirror/wardrobes which swivel, very comfortable and clean, free water I think, and the windows open, a priority for us. We had free internet, another priority, but not sure if it is always free. Farmers market on Saturday a plus, make sure to walk to the battery and along new river-side path up west side. Relatively inexpensive parking at Pier 40, a hike, but October weather was lovely. Enjoy--the Andaz in NY is great.

We stayed at the Andaz on Thanksgiving and had a terrific stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the room was well appointed and very comfortable. Location is very convenient to downtown sites and businesses and very easily accessible by subway. We were traveling with a baby and a dog and the hotel provided us with a crib and baby-toiletries pack for the baby and even a bed for the dog!
