We booked this for my 40th birthday after reading the very positive reviews. The location is great, granted the street its on doesn't look the prettiest. You are just across the road from the subway and port authority.

Staff at the hotel were always polite and helpful. Nothing was ever too much bother.
Breakfast was great in the mornings, a great choice and plentiful.

A suprise cheesecake was delivered to our room for my birthday - lovely touch. The bedroom was lovely, iPod, coffeemaker, mini bar and bathrobes.

If looking to see a broadway show, go to the TKTS South Street Seaport It opens from 11am with no queues unlike the TKTS in times square where you could be queuing for up to three hrs.

We stayed in the distrikt for a week and found it to be a very good hotel. It is close enough to walk to times square etc and there is a major bus/subway station about 50 meters from the hotel.it is located next to a sheraton and a marriot and the area felt safe and busy at all hours. Staff were friendly and always polite, rooms were a fair size for.nyc and exceptionally clean.

Room Tip: 2408 has a view of the hudson and the top of the chrysler building

Myself and my new wife stayed at the Distrikt Hotel for our honeymoon! We stayed for 6 nights and found the hotel to be fantastic! Great sized rooms, very friendly and helpful staff. Great position within walking distance of alot of attractions inc Times Square approx. 5 minutes walk. Thank you Distrikt. TIP: Taxi from JFK to the hotel was $70 but there is a bus station opposite the hotel which is $18 pp which was a decent saving with with it being just the 2 of us.

When I booked a room at the District hotel (on the corner of 40th Str and 9th Ave) my NY friends said it was located in an uninteresting part of town. That may be so, the room was spacious, the staff exceptionally nice and 9th Avenue is just lined with restaurants. I certainly intend to stay here again.

We booked this hotel based on several reviews we read on tripadvisor and were not disappointed.
We had a 7 night stay and found the room very comfortable with a good amount of space for us and our suitcases. The decor was modern and attractive, the bed a delight to sleep on. The bathroom was also a good size for a NYC hotel room.
We chose a room designated as "larger", which was in fact larger than the room designated as "quieter" which another person in our party had booked. We were on the 28th floor and had no issue with outside noise, but the air conditioning unit was a mite noisy - however, nothing that couldn't be overcome by the use of earplugs!
It was a lovely touch to have brownies waiting for us on arrival, and our lovely housekeeper was very accommodating with supply of extra tea.
We found the location very handy with a short walk to the centre of Times Square, Broadway shows, lovely restaurants in Hell's Kitchen, and walkable distance to Madison Square Garden, Rockefeller Centre, Empire State Building. Also, because we enjoy walking, and had comfortable shoes, we also walked to the pier for Intrepid and boat cruises.
All in all, a really good hotel, with some nice extra touches and friendly and helpful staff. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
